Default Z06 question.

This guy at work has a vette. I asked him is it a Z06 he said yes it was. He said he beat a reg C5 by 5 car lengths. I said of course its a Z do you have the 385 or 405 hp Z06. He said 405 I said the other car was a auto you have a M6 you definetly have the advantage. He said no mine is a automatic too. Thats when I knew he didn't know what he talking about. He said its a black Z06 with a tan vert top another way I knew it wasn't a true Z. If I'm not mistaken a Z06 only comes in a six speed hard top not even a targa top(removable roof). Correct? Can a Z06 be purchased as a vert or auto? I don't think they can. He does have the Z wheels. Thanks

You sir, are correct! The ZO6 only comes in a hardtop coupe!

Thanks I thought it did. As bad as I want one I should know but I wanted to make sure. I don't argue if there is a 1% chance of me being wrong. I also don't want to burst his bubble and tell him its not a Z. He says its stock so I think I can take him. He's a stock auto vert vette and I got a few mods to my pretty light weight Z28. What do you guys think?

Ok here is what you do:

Tell him he is full of **** and make sure you're around a computer (or print it out). And when he argues with you get online and go to www.chevy.com and look it up.

Here is a link for the lazy people:

>>>ZO6<<<

There you will see it in writing it only comes as a hard top and six speed.

Peace,
Craig.

I was looking to quote that earlier Craig, but I couldn't find where it said that. I still can't.

Starting with its fixed-roof hardtop body, Z06 is a complete performance package: a unique 405-horsepower LS6 V8 engine and six-speed manual transmission. A specifically tuned chassis and lightweight titanium exhaust components. An interior with custom touches. An exterior that will be noticed. And a storied nameplate destined to be identified in the years to come as an extremely significant Corvette.

Peace,
Craig.

I know of a couple of guys who have had the roofs cut off their Z06's to make verts out of them. But an AUTO Z06...your coworker is stupid or thinks you are...

Go to any Chevrolet online setup that let's you customize a Vette. The only option for the Z06 is Hardtop m6.

I wish they would offer the LS6 in a base C5, and with an A4 too. I prefer the look of the coupe over the hardtop myself.

I didn't see your post until now. I was going to find something more, but all the info was right there on the Chevy's main page about the ZO6.

Peace,
Craig.

The Z06 is odd. It is probably the car with least amount of options available:

Museum Delivery - (available on all vettes, must be pre-ordered. You pick up your car at the Vette factory in Bowling Green KY)

Memory - Remembers seat position, radio, A/C and mirrors.

Electrochromatic Rearview Mirror - Autodimming rearview.

And that's it.

No options: seats, rims, floormats, trans, body, tops, power acc, etc. You get what they sell. It ain't Burger King.

BTW - The FRC is the most aggressive style AND the strongest AND the lightest. You can tell the Z06 from a distance.

And McRat, saying "The FRC is the most aggressive style " is downright insane. The FRC's are the billybob model corvette and are quiet simply not what the design of the C5 was SUPPOSED to look like to start out with. The fast back coupe C5 is more agressive and sleeker looking, IMO of course.
