Default $12,000 in mods???? Which ones?

Here is my situation....I have been building/racing RX7's for some time now, but I have decided to move on and want to try my luck with a C5.

Let's assume I end up with a low mileage bone stock C5....and have a $12k budget to work with as far as performance goes. What is the best route to take? Should I go with a F/I, N20, or N/A pertaining to a street car, that will be driven, maybe not daily, but enough....looking for decent reliability, power, and performance....not looking for 800+hp or anything....but a nice 500whp would be great if it is useable; ie: good suspension, tranny, rear end.

So if you had a bone stock C5 and $12k to work with....what would you do, where would you shop? Please note that this is not all I will be spedning...but this will be my first purchase group...so I don't want to buy things that I will have to upgrade later.

depending on which head/cam setup you go with.. there are some big streetable cams these days (g5x3, magic stick, F14) w/ a set of good heads AFR or TEA, n20 the car would be over 500rwhp on a 100shot and you'd have plenty of budget left for.

gears, clutch, hardened output shaft, rear brace. every thing you'd need to make the car where you can take it to the track on the weekend and not worry about breaking stuff.

You could also look at the PTK or TTi twin turbo kit...

TTi X Twin Turbo kit and new rear hardened out put shafts.

But I am partial to A&A Corvette's P1SC kit. I would drop that in again, good headers, good tune, good clutch, hardened output shafts if not a new set of gears and some nice wheels to set it off. Really though I would rack my brain for months trying to figure all this out again. Always go with a 408 or 427 as well. Either way 12K will make it move one way or another

Do you have a six speed or auto?

If six speed C5:
DTE brace
good clutch
drag radials
used headers
Halltech stinger
402 LS2 short with AFR heads and decent cam

If auto:
built trans
3000 stall
drag radials
used headers
Halltech stinger
402 LS2 short with AFR heads and decent cam

$12K is not enough for a TT kit by the time you factor in fuel, install, tune, and drive line upgrades.

Your best bang for the buck for $12K will be an A&A or ECS ProCharger kit or a heads / cam + small N20 package. JMO

I/C magnacharger
21st century blower cam
3.1 or 2.9 pulley
methynol
3.42 gears
FLP level 5 4l65
3200 stall

With these mods you will have a very reliable daily driver, 500rwhp and probably a 10sec time slip. My dad ran an 11.09 in is 04 C5 with the stock trans. Good luck with what ever you choose.

For the amount of money you wanting to spend, I would also suggest going to A&A for their supercharger kit, though I would reccomend a D1 or even an F1 to give yourself more breathing room. Being a racer and a builder if you do your own work, it would give that much more to work with. Buying an A4 will pretty much guarantee that you will need to buy a built trans for anything over 500 hp. You will save yourself a little money sticking with an M6 and probably have a little more fun. With the A&A kit, a clutch(check out Textralia?), headers(if you are not considering turbos), catback and tuning, maybe an alky injection kit and misc. items, you should have money leftover for your next round of upgrades and should be above your target for horsepower.

The problem is that the rx7's are so much lighter. There are people around here who are putting ls1's and strokers and such in them (one of them is in the pump gas drags). It can get expensive to try and compete with someone lighter than you.
