Default Ordering a 2006 Corvette

Anyone know when the 2006 Corvette will hit the market? I remember when I special ordered my '02 Camaro SS in 2001, I did the order in June and the car came in around August. I have #1408 2002 SS.

Anyway, I sent an email to my local dealer but haven't heard anything back. Anyone here know?

I'm buying a weekend cruiser for me and the wife, its going to be a Sunset Orange Z51 package C6 with Targa top, black interior etc. It would be awesome if I can get an '06 by July.

Thx
Lee

Well....... I went by the dealership and they had 7 on the lot! Custom orders shouldn't take more than the usual 6 weeks or less.

Congratulations... for the future.

2006 Vettes probably won't hit the dealers until Aug/Sep time frame. I believe they are already taking custom orders for the 2006 right now though.

Here's my email corespondence with the sales rep at my Chevy dealer. I just dont think this lady gets it... Read from the bottom up, you can see in her second email she didn't even come close to answering my question about the 2006 special order C6..sheesh!! If she don't respond to me by Monday I'll call the Manager at the dealer and mess with em. Whats nice about this transaction is I'll be paying for the car in full with a cashiers check, I love doing that to car sales people, especially ones that think they are slick etc.

Laura,

Could you tell me when I would be able to order a 2006 Corvette and roughly what the delivery date would be?

Thank You,

Lee

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Lee,

Thank you for your e-mail!!. I will be glad to assist you and we will be happy to place the order for your New 2005 Corvette !!!.

We require a $1,000 deposit to place the order and of course, once the car gets here it will be part of the deal!!

Looking forward to meeting with you!!

Sincerely,

Laura Gutierrez, Internet Sales Manager
Ed Morse Sawgrass Auto Mall

Hello Laura,

Thank you for replying to my inquiry. I wasn’t really interested in the Corvette that was listed as it was an automatic, I am only interested in special ordering.

Would you happen to know when I could order a 2006 and if so what the estimated delivery date would be. Depending on the release date for the 06 this year I may just have you order a 2005. Below is the exact package I am looking. I have bought my last 3 cars with Ed Morse Chevy and have always been please with the service. The last car I bought at Sawgrass was a 2002 Camaro SS, which I bought through your internet department.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Lee

Dear Lee,

Hello! This is Laura Gutierrez at Ed Morse Sawgrass Auto Mall. My apologies, but the vehicle you requested has been sold. I may have others that suit your wants and needs. What, specifically, about this vehicle should I be looking for in one of our other vehicles...

We can order a car for you at no extra charge and I will be glad to assist you!!

Sincerely,

Laura Gutierrez, Internet Sales Manager

dang, talk about CLUELESS. How hard is it to read an email correctly? I don't think I'd want to make a $50K purchase from someone that doesn't pay attention to details, and you might not want to order a custom spec'd vehicle for sure from someone that misses details

oops, it showed up with an automatic and tan leather!

IMHO, pass on the polished wheel option ($1600) and just trade in the stock silver wheels for chromed ones for $900. The polished C6 wheels are pretty crappy quality when you see them in person. Its like they half polished them or something, definitely not worth the option price.

Any particular reason you want an 06 instead? The '06s will have a brand new engine computer system, and will probably take even longer to crack than the '05s, which have been difficult.

Thanks for the heads up on the wheels. I've been thinking about just getting the stocker and getting some after market ones.

I can't really go nuts modifying this car, because my wife will probably drive it as much as me. This is just going to be our little weekend cruiser, grocery getter etc. For sure I'll start with intake and exhaust for a while, when I know Allan can tune the 06 I'll send him the car for some H/C and leave it at that. Knowing me if I keep toying with it too much, I'll have it tubbed, roll caged, twin turbo'd and no longer street legal. I always turn everything I buy into a damn drag car lol.

About the dealer, I've got 2 dealers near me to choose from. One has total ******* sales people, they are VERY snobby. The other is Sawgrass, they always been really cool, but the guy I've always dealt with passed away like 2 years ago. I don't know this clueless chick. I'm going to call em on Monday.

Contact some of the big name dealers on corvetteforum, they have the lowest prices out there ($2K to 2.5K off MSRP) and can have the cars 'courtesy delivered' to your local dealerships. Try Kerbeck or Maxie Price

I used their prices to get a TX dealer to match their pricing. It worked.

Lee you should get a Magnuson blower for that thing. I am also thinking about getting a C6 and magnacharger is about to release their C6 blower incase you didnt know. As is, you get to keep your full 3yr/36k powertrain warranty!

I am thinking about going this route since it has the warranty and all...
Just wish I knew when it will be out...
