Default Getting a C5

Hate to say it, this is my first post, but I'm going to have to get involved in the buy-back program thru the BBB because I've had 5 repairs on my SLP Auburn rear-end since day one, and I CAN't TAKE IT ANYMORE. Have had 3 new Camaro's in the last 5 years. Finally upgraded from 2 previous Z28's to an SLP '01 SS. Love the car, don't get me wrong, but I can't handle anymore rear-end diff problems. I hope a new Corvette is the answer to my prayers. What do you think guys? Jeannie

Unless you get an oil burner you shouldnt have any problems that a good c5 tech cant fix.

So, do you think it has allot to do with breaking in a car just right, that would cause excessive oil consumption if you didn't? There's all kinds of allowances that GM allows and is normal for oil consumption, but to a avid car enthusiest, like myself, oil consumption is a no no for me,it's as bad as an oil leak, so I guess everycar has it's perks. Damn! <img src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" border="0" alt="[judgement]" />

The '01 Z06's are the big time oil burners, some 00-01 LS1's have the problem. I'm pretty sure the problem has gone away with '02 and the new rings.

The 'vette is a complete package deal.

It isn't a bulletproof racer, no one sells that off the showroom floor.

It is a better platform to get serious in a complete car way.

Even putting a 12 bolt in an f-bod won't get you to the full driving experience a C5 will.

One must temper my opinion against what I'm in to, which is roadracing.

11's are not beyond reach in a fairly medium modded C5 and you can still maintain a formidable club or AutoX car. 11's with an f-bod gives up too much all around capability.

Some good seat time in a nice 'vette will maybe get you dreaming about roadrace time or AutoX rather than just straightline jollys.

No car is bulletproof. Vettes are easier to get down a strip in short time than f-bods are to get around a roadcourse. Point being, you can spend a few and not lose livability with a C5.

The platform is that much more superior.
