Need Opinions PLEASE...
I have an SS thats done up with adjustible coil overs (autoX spring rates), bilstein shocks, lca's, phr, sfc's, stb, and any other 3 letter acronyms you can think of. When I was first looking for a C5, I figured it wouldnt handle as well as my SS (which did pretty good in autoX IMO)...however, when I finally bought the C5 and pushed it hard the difference was astounding.
If you go into a hard high speed corner in your car, its probably gonna get tail happy. If you go into a hard high speed corner in a C5 and all 4 wheels seem to break traction at the same time. Its brilliant.
So, things you'll gain:
- Lighter weight car
- Great handling, much more balanced
- window motors that dont suck
- interior of a bit higher quality
- dual exhaust setup
Options I love:
- HUD
- Active handling
If you just want a fast street car for some street racing and track use, I'd just keep what you have. If you want a daily driver that is super fun to drive in corners, get the C5.
Once they start making a growling noise when going up or down they're on the way out.

Now if your thing is drag racing. Then its hard to beat a A4 F-Body stripper bang for buck.
But, if a all around car is what you are after then the C5 is simply great.
I have no regrets moving to the Z06. Corning is just plain awesume!!
Take Care,

Stright line acceleration my C5 doesn't compare in its current trim. Had I put the 422 in it that would have been another story. Personally I would keep your SS until it's paid off then get a used C5. Your SS is very unique, I would never get rid of it.
The only other issue i have is that i would be paying $150 less a month on a used C5 (after my down payment. I did take a C5 out (99 hard top M6) and i definatley pushed it . The car is almost too lite, it would slide on hard turns and on un smooth surfaces it was hard to keep it on the ground How do the C5 handle under lets say 450rwhp? Does it just slide around or actually give G's moving forward?
I agree the SS is a Large Pig! My car weighs 3800lbs without me and with NO fuel. This sounds kind of weird but i would miss the reclining seats as much as the Twin Turbos
Is there any chance for a Targa Z06?
To those of you who really modded up your suspension on an F-Body, compared to the C5 (not Z06)is there just a difference in handling or is it still a Major difference even fully setup on an F-Body?
Thanks, you guys are great

The only time I look back about my purchase, will be at the Drag Strip
But It's not always about that, plus I plan to run a 427 stroker is this vette by the end of the year Hopefully beating down the 30TH's Times
Good Luck
I took my SS through the same course i took my friends 99 hardtop vette. It held well even though i bottomed out on the Crapy Incon exhuast pipe. It is still about i would say 20% of a less handling car than the Vette. However, spooling those turbos of the corners from about 4k rpm is great.
Is the Vette with the removable roof still a full framed car like the hardtop?
Coupe: has the hoop between the targa and the rear window that attaches to the frame.
Convertable: doesnt have the hoop, but has a cross brace in between the top's boot and the trunk.
Hardtop: has both the hoop and the crossbrace.
