Guy in your 99TA, I have both an '01 SS M6 and an '01 M6 'Vette. At one time they were both %100 bone stock and I can tell you that the light weight and better aerodynamics of the 'Vette were easily apparent to me from a roll. Now the SS has a few bolt-on mods (free mods, lid, K&N, FTRA, thermostat, raised rev limit, gutted cats, ported TB, GMS MAF, Nittos) while the 'Vette is still %100 stock. Yes the SS is now faster from a roll but not by as much as one might think.

From a dead stop there is no longer any comparison between my two cars though. The SS runs mid 12s and I feel the 'Vette would be lucky to run 13.2s.

Point being, when they were stock my 'Vette would beat my SS from a roll. No doubt about it.

Which is the better car? No comparison, the C5 is awesome and is by far the superior machine. Which do I have more fun driving? The SS. Dunno why, it just fits me better. When the 'Vette gets driven it's usually by the wife. She LOVES it but doesn't care much at all for my SS.

Well said Colonel.. When I was stock I beat stock vettes.. Whoever got the jump won. Usually it was me.. Now I have a obvious advantage.. I beat stock Z06's like it is going out of style. They get the jump but I pull them by the top of 2nd.. Then it is all downhill for the Z06.. Which car I would rather have.. Z06 of course..

I agree with you almost 100% on that b/c I had a freind that almost got killed not too long ago and it has pretty much scared me out of street racing.....although I love the feeling of it, the thaught of dying has pretty much ended it for me.

I am not trying to put the C5 down by any means, but I just am not very impressed by the performance and how everyone raises the Vettes up over the F-bodies as if it were a god. I dont mean everyone is like that just alot of people around here.

I dont mean to offend you guys so lets all be freinds and drink beer and just think about how lucky we really are!!!!!

I think you have to drive a C5 to appreciate it.

I ran the time in my sig with a donaldson filter, straight pipe exhaust and a 2.15 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> 60' time.

Traction doesnt come easy in these cars.

I've owned two f-bodies, and one vette which I currently drive. 99 C5 A4 currentley stock. I've won a few and lost a few. but one thing I love about the car is how the chicks kinda gravitate towards them, know what I mean? 'nuff said. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I have run a stock Z06 once, but I had just bolt ons back then and he was slowly pulling on me. Now that Z06 is no longer stock, with just bolt ons, and I have H/C and I just slowly pull him. I figured it's his gearing and his lighter weight, but you say you can pull past them by the top of 2nd and leave them in the dust? What in the world is going on? I haven't dynoed yet (this weekend) or taken it to the track, but something doesn't sound right. I don't know if it was the Z06 you raced or my car.

I'm not going to call BS because I know who you are, but if an f-body with 100 more rwhp can give up ground to a 'vette to the top of third something is wrong. You shouldn't start gaining on him till the top of 4th at the least.

I'm putting down 355 rwh, and my friend's 'Vette is putting down 315 rwh. I put 2 cars on him up to ~130, which is the top of 4th for me, before he starts gaining.

p.s. I will add that, from a roll I can shift as well as anybody out there. I do not miss shifts and will never use that as an excuse to losing a race. I can't launch the damn thing from a stop yet and thats being honest.
