Default AIR PUMP

Hi,

New C5 guy here. I was just curious if anyone has deleted the air pump from their y-body.
I want to do this and have LS1 edit. I was just curious if anyone has done this yet

Other people have done it on F-bodies. It'll be no different for a C5. Just get some block off plates.

Getting rid of the SES light I have no idea about, everybody I knew just had them de-programmed by a tuner. I'm sure LS1Edit has some way to do it. You should ask in the LS1Edit section on this site for specifics on that.

Is there any benefit to doing this?

Well, if you dont have cats the AIR pump serves no purpose...so its really just a few pounds of stuff you can remove from the car.

Obviously the emissions place wont pass you though just based off a visual.

That makes sense. I removed the AIR pump from my LS1 f-body because it was always in the way when trying to work on the engine. Its nicely tucked out of the way on the C5.

I am wanting to take it off for various reasons.

The lines also are in the way on the D.S. One of the plugs either 5 or 7 is almost impossible with the air line on.

Thanks for the replies
