Gutting cats on a c5

Has any one out their gutted their cats or removed them? If so were their any advantages to doing this, and did it set off the computer? <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[Burnout]" />

It will stink for awhile, but you should pick up about 5-10RWHP. Haven't done it myself, I usually just get offroad pipes.

I have full stock cats on my car and just don't see the need for gutting them. Most of the cars around here have shown power losses with the cats removed.

I had a muffler shop cut my cats off and weld in straight pipes on my 00 Vette and I picked up 5rwhp. I also had the B&B Triflo catback on my car when I did this. The sound was considerably louder at WOT but there was lot of popping when letting off the gas.
