what c5 for drag racing?
Would it 60 like my camaro?
Would a big converter drive like my camaro?
Would 98 heads fit on a 00?
Would I have to get my computer reprogramed in a stick? (224/228)?
What kind of 60s can the vettes rear end take?
Ive read that the F-bodys where having problems with the clutches, do the vettes have the same problem?
Could I mount et streets and front runners on a vette?
If my H/C package out of my camaro ran mid 11s should I expect the same times out of the corvette?
Sorry for all the questions. I have no idea on what to look for and maybe yall could help me out.
Albert

They usually start breaking half shafts at the sub 1.6x point.

Unfortunately the cars share the same clutch, and the stock ones in the C5's have the same problems.

Also would my converter work in the corvette?
If I was to get a 6 speed I wouldnt worry about breaking the rear end I would break the tail shaft?

The C5 rear is pretty strong, but of course sticky tires, a lot of power and multiple sticky track launches will take their toll on it as well as the trans and clutch.
I would recommend a low option automatic coupe (targa) as a starting point for a decent drag Vette, then convertor/heads/cam/gear it to your hearts content. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Corvette]" title="" src="graemlins/corvette.gif" />

I haven't seen or heard of any half-shafts break yet. Also have not seen this on an A4 car. Hardened shafts are available for around $350-400 + install.
An automatic coupe is the way to go. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Has the powerloader so you could for 75 dollars send your mods off to Steve Cole and he could reprogram you pcm. Corsa Indy's with pro style tips and Halltech intake.
Throw on you heads and cam...pick up a convertor and gears and your good to go.
The cars mint..with nice michelins about 3K miles old...Never been hit. Clean and sharp..
Email me at JBsC5@aol.com if your interested in doing "an in and out" at a dealer so I can save a few bucks in sales tax..
We could both make out pretty well if your interested..
I'd like to try a ZO6 from Georgia dealer most probably... and I'm not in any rush as this car has been the perfect car..No problems and has an extended warranty in case your even concerned..the big warranty work they did was replace the seatback cover due to a technical service bulletin from GM...
The car is my third car and is immaculate..

Looking foward to your email if your interested..

I would tell you when the time is right..and you get your 2001 Vette..your going to love this car..
I have had nothing but pleasure from this car. I also believe that the GMPP extended warranty from Ken Fitchner purchased within the first three years/36K mile period have recently been extended past the 72 months that I have..to 84 months..
With these cars..its best to have the extended warranty in my opinion..not because you need them but because in all reality...it makes financial sense in case you do..
Whatever year you end up buying when the timing is right..Know that the car is amazing and quite well built.
Good luck
JB
This is a nice car guys..really has been a pleasure so if your interested..this would be a nice car..
I'm sort of interested in buying the stick shift version..and thats the deal.
Its a good time to consider a preowned vette. They are very well cared for cars.
Stealth or anyone if your somewhat interested...let me know..I can probably work the dealer in a new way to get us all a lower price.

Although it has the extended warranty..I haven't needed it..The car is as solid as could be imagined.
I realize each owner has a different experience. I'm sorry to hear you had trouble. There have been others as well..just this car has exceeded my expectations in performance and reliability.
Who knows...I was out today in the car and said to myself..Sell this for another one? What for?
I would say preowned Corvettes are among the best values..I really see most Corvette owners as fanatical when it comes to thier car.
Myself included..lol
Whenever you get the chance..whether its this year or next..consider a C5..really is a great car.
Heres a rumor on the 50th suspension package?
----------------The new 50th anniversary edition of the C5 will combine Active handling which will be tied in to the innovative new ride system incorportating MagneRide Shock absorbers. These new Delphi "valveless" shocks will have superior damping and response rates of up to 150 times per second. The quick -acting shocks uise a magneto-rheological fluid and computer controlled coils to provide continuously variable realitime damping.
The benefits are a far better ride on the roughest surfaces, less body roll and faster wheel control for optimum handling.
This will be the extent of the mechanical upgrades for the 50th anniversary model. (imho)
Not worth the hassle but should be fun to hear about as the both the designers and the magazines try and compare it to the z51 package..
