I am 23 years old and i am thinking the insurance would kill me, i have no tickets or accidents so i am going to look into it. How much did all your insurance rates increase when you made the transition from an f-body to the Z06???? Who daily drives there vette? I live in southern cali so i would be using it as a daily...and opinions?
Believe it or not, my insurance didnt go up much at all, but im a lil older "28", and I own a house and im married, so I know the more you own, the more you insure, so premiums are lower, I would look into insurance first, then make the decision, and I dont daily drive mine.

My Z was actually alittle cheaper than the Firebird for 6 month rate. I list both the Formula and the Vette as "pleasure" vehicles though and I'm 33 and married w/ good record. I don't daily drive it to work but find any reason to take it out othertimes. Especially on weekends!

My insurance for my Z is just under $1000.00 @ $936.00. Not bad pretty reasonable.

Pound for Pound, HP for HP, the Vette's going to win. It feels better, gets more looks (note I didn't say "looks better", because that's a matter of opinion), handles better and is easier to work on (granted more expensive).

That said, I still have my FBody and my C5 (I know it's not a Z06 ). My main reason for keeping the TA was the back seat. I've got the family thing going too and need the back seat from time-to-time, but still want the power. And no, a GTO wouldn't do and I got a C5 for less than a used M3!

Thanks blanco.

Oh and I forgot! Another reason to have the F-bod, is people under-estimate it.

It's fun beating people in a car they have no respect for (probably the reason the ricers go after us)

I drove camaros for years and I always wanted a vette of course. Never drove one till I tested a Z06. It is night and day nothing GM has ever built is this good for doing it all. It is my favorite and am glad I idid it. I have no interest in any other cars for the first time in my 42 year old life. I am now getting ready to build it up the way I want it to be.

The F body is good but the corvette is awesome especially the Z06 for the big picture in car performance. If it only had a back seat; it is the only draw back on the car's design for a family man.

I have several cars and when I bought my Z06, it was going to be my weekend car. Well, that didn't happen, I drive it just about everyday. Without a doubt it is a fun car to drive.

I first drove a Z06 last Friday. Let me tell you, it was a magical experience driving it. I had wanted a Standard Coupe for some time. The minute I drove the Z, that idea went riiiight out the window! Smooth power, excellent brakes, a clutch that is absolutely a BREEZE to use all around, and the price is not a killer.

Most Z's aren't daily drivers so you're going to find them with low miles, perfect for you to enjoy some more driving.

The '02's could see an 11 in the 1/4 with soft tires.

How do you beat that! I might own one soon.

The first Z I ever drove was a 2001 quicksilver. I owned a 99 Hardtop at the time. I'll never forget the one thing that stood out the most. The breaks! Damn, my eyeballs almost popped out of my head. I was impressed, just breathe on them and hold on hehe!

The difference is in the tires and pads. The Z06 and the standard C5 have the same brakes. As far as getting into a C5 from an F-body I have no regrets. If you find your budget is constrained, I'd suggest looking at a '99+ Z51 6spd coupe or a '99-'00 hardtop. They can be had for lot less and and can be modded just like any other LSx car. In my opinion if you are buying a C5 and are planning major mods, you are further ahead to buy a non Z06 and use the difference to mod it.

I am a huge fan of the Camaro but my Corvette has made my Camaro a dust collector. The corvette is a rocket ship compared to a pop can camaro.

The 68 Camaro is cool too. We don't have to many around here anymore. I think the Vette grabs alot of attention too.

easy now, the camaro is as much a pop can as the vette is a go cart. Dont dis the family lines, save that for the imports and fords

Check out the thread on z06 times. Then take one for a drive. No turning back then. Look at the year most are running good times with.

I drove both cars for 1 hour each back to back. If you have hammered a 60's muscle car and then flog a 2004 Corvette it is amazing what the new stuff can do. It is like night and day, of course the price is stiff if you want to get into outer space.

If it isn't a GM it is not worth talking about. hehe

I too bought my Z06 to NOT be a daily driver but drive it alot more than I was supposed to. Just got back from a 2500 plus mile roadtrip when I went home on leave. Can't believe I didn't get a ticket!
My 04 has over 16,500 miles on her!!
