165,000 is also the price of the car brand new. Don't get me wrong, still expensive but it shaves some of the price off.
I'd rather do the mods myself as well. But just think, well say 110,000, what other car is going to perform as well. I know they did up the suspension as well, 1.01 g's is nothing to shake a stick at.

I believe that car that is featured in C&D runs twin turbos and has a built A4 - I believe it belongs to a fellow Texan and they made the 9.20 run @ RCR just outside San Antonio - I also think it is stroked to 427 cid.

It's actually a C5R block. Comes as a 427ci
And that blocks very strong, so it can handle pretty much whatever boost they wanna run (as long as the heads stay attached)....
My dream setup is a 427C5R block. Set of 'Stage 3' LS6 heads and have 'em O-Ringed by Mike Morgan (great turbo guy) with a intake biased slipt dur. cam and run LS1 Motorsports single turbo kit (maybe upgrade the turbo) and crank up the boost with a lil pump gas/alky injection! It would be packaged in a Z28 of course!

Pretty stupid race if you ask me, considering an F-18 would be lucky to go 100mph in the first 1000 feet. MAYBE, if it had an 1/8th of a tank of gas with zero stores on it. Let's see him race a catapult take-off.
AND if that weren't enough, Lingenfelter is the BIGGEST rip-off in the performance industry. Any shop could do what he does for $130,000 in mods.

I would have to agree with you. Lingenfelter does some really good work, but you pay big time for the name too. You know Motor Trend guys just wanted to fly in the jet it really never was a fair race

I'd have to agree to that to.
So here we have the two biggest rip-offs in the industry.

The point is any rich guy with 165Gs can go to Lingenfelter not knowing anything about cars, and kick the crap out of anything he finds on the street. This car is 100% streetable and will beat anything short of a Pro Street car (and still handles like a slot car).

Yeah it has a warranty, that's why Lingenfelter charges more than double of what it should cost so he can pad himself incase a waranty claim occurs.
I can purchase a 99 C5 for around $28K add a (self built) C5-R 427 for $18K and have the TT kit installed for $20K
The car can be duplicated for $66,000 which leaves $99K to play with

I was wondering couldn't someone get a 6.0 block have it bored slap in a Lunati crank and some other goodies and have a compotent engine builder assembly it(or do it yourself).Wouldn't you have a strong stroker at a fraction of the cost? You just wouldn't be able to say this is my (insert tuner here) stroker.

I agree that Lingenfelter is HIGH, esecially on turbo stuff BUT. On most (not sure on 427 cars) they are also emisions legal. That takes alot of equipment and time to be certified. Yes plus a little padding for warranty claims. Lingenfelter is not looking for most of "our" type business. He is after the rich old guy that has $$ to spend on whatever he wants. I had a '92 lingenfelter 383 lt1 that ran 12.0's on drag radials all day any day, YES you can build a car much cheaper than his,BUT I also got a very good PRICE on the car when I sold it because of lingenfelter name...ie value went up on car. My current SS makes more power and I did it myself but....the value of the car went down...I would be lucky to get the same $$ as a stock car now. IF I HAD THE $$ I WOULD HAVE A LPE 427 turbo.
