Default Newbie Questions

Ok. The vette is a bone stock, right down to the sir filter, 2002 6 spd. convert. It's my dad's but since he works alot, I get to do the fun stuff and post on the sites. I was wondering what cheap upgrades there are available that will give a SOTP feel increase. What cold air intake do you recommend? How about exhaust? Dad wants em loud outside the car, but no droan on the inside. how about underdrive pulleys? What shifter do yall recommend? Thanks for the help. My dad's new to the whole world of performance. I on the other hand have a 7000 lb 4x4 diesel that runs low 15's to high 14's. So let me konw what yall got and how it performs. Thanks again for the help.

Best bang for the buck. Donaldson Blackwing 200.00 bucks with a hood seal shipped to your door from exit28motorsports in dallas. 18RWHP is there claim.

Best exhaust, the loudest without drone i think is the B&B PRT's and they are quiet at cruise but above 3000 rpms it screams.

Also join corvetteforum.com because you get a 10% discount on parts at most places for being a member.

So the blackwing is suppsoed to be good? What about underdrive pulleys? And mods that i could do myself that are free? Thanks for the help.

Hey Mike, thanks for supporting this site and our sponsors.

You can get those parts price-matched at just about any sponsor link on this site.

Tony 10% is 10% man.. Thats a good deal. I dont know if some of the sponsers would do that. If they would match those prices then more power to them, but if not wouldnt you rather save a few bucks?? A few bucks here is a few mods there..

Chris, pay attention. MOST VENDORS PRICE MATCH, regardless of what sites you are members of. You could tell them you are a member too.

10% is BS by the way. That definitely does not include ALL parts, only a select few. Most shops only mark the parts up 15% and would go out of business selling at 5%. 10% is easy to do on parts sold by manufacturers, not shops. Corvetteforum has quite a few corvette-specific parts manufacturers as sponsors.

The ONLY c5 exhaust that has been proven to be resonance free is from Corsa. I have the Corsa Pace Car and it sounds awesome. I purchased it from Speed Demon Motorsports (one of our sponsors) for a great price.

How about the MTI "True Ram Air" box for the C5?!? A sponsor, and well-known for true performance parts. $299, I think, and an advertised 22hp, which I would tend to believe from MTI.

I've heard that with a manual, the resonance isn't as bad. It's still present, but not bad. Also, I've heard that an x-pipe helps take out the motor boat sound and smooths the note and eliminates popping, is this true? Haven't heard of the "true ram air" set up. Might be worht checking it out.
