RAM Clutch is installed...
RAM 402 pressure plate
McLeod billet aluminum adjustable master cylinder
New GM slave cylinder
Fidanza aluminum flywheel
I had the pressure plate and flywheel balanced before install, as well as the flywheel's steel insert surfaced prior to installing. Ran about 100 bucks at a local machine shop.
Well, all my assumptions and assurances from others were very much correct - the iron disk material makes for a very "on/off" feel. In roughly 1.5" of pedal travel the clutch is engaged. Not much slipping is allowed here at all.
The pedal is very heavy, mostly due to the aluminum master cylinder and heavy pressure plate. It holds like a mother fu*#er though...more than enough to handle a bottle if/when I decide to put a wet shot on it.
Overall - very pleased. It will take some time to "relearn" to drive it, stop and go traffic is going to suck, ahhh the things we do to make our cars faster...
I haven't installed it yet though...I have only had it about a week. I also got the same pressure plate.
However I went with the billet steel flywheel that came with the VDS system. This system weighs a ton! I figure I am going to have to "tune" the clutch down.
BTW,
Did you use any of the shims that came with the clutch, or are you just running it at maximum pressure? Who did the install and for how much$$$$$$
Let me know....as I am about 2 days from install!
Sean at Fastek/Speedtek did the install, give him a call and he'll quote you the price.
I love it so far though - nice work and thanks for the help Mike!
No shims even CAME with the clutch. Did you get the 910 or the 980 disk?

I am not sure which one I got. I know that it is an iron disk, but if I can just look somewhere and tell that would be great. What is the difference?
The clutch is all put together(this is how they shipped it) and I haven't taken it apart yet to see. I can see that it is sprung hub! Let me know if I can tell.....they just told me which disk I needed and shipped it to me!

980 is a combo facing disc, 900 series sintered iron on the pressure plate side, 300 series organic on the flywheel side. Better suited to stock flywheels. 910 is 900 series both sides, recommended only for billet steel flywheel.
