Active Handling?
How does this work under drag racing situations?
I can see it useful in a road course or just aggressive driving. But what about from a launch? Does it make the rear stiffer? Or does it make is looser to help get traction under hard acceleration?
Thanks

Active handling does nothing during drag racing. It doesnt stiffen or loosen anything...thats not what active handling is about.
What activing handling does do is correct the car by braking an outer rear wheel when it feels the car starting to go sideways. Thats it. Its kinda a safety net.
Unless you go sideways down a dragstrip it'll do absolutly nothing.

So what is the new setup that has the magnetic shocks? ??? Where it adjust the shocks from firm to soft depending on the driving?
Chris,
Haven't gotten into a vette yet. Not sure when it will happen. But I can say that it won't be anytime soon. I am going in the right direction to get one....just having a few set backs.
Need to go talk to my boss to give me a raise so I can afford a vette. Never hurts to ask right? hahaha..... wish it was that easy.

When the time comes I will most likely take a little drive and buy a vette from this place. I have been watching there prices and they have a lot of good deals....ones I wish I could act on now. But maybe I'll get lucky and the prices will continue to fall on some models....helping me get into one sooner.
However, the values of them will be worse and not a good thing...only the buying one part.

In May I ran the Nevada Open Road Challenge in a 2002 C5 with a Borla Cat back and ZO6 intake. During the section of the road known as "The Narrows" we entered at 115mph. The first turn is a hard left (at the posted speed you could fall asleep through the corner and make it out with time to spare), right at the apex of the turn we hit a dip and were also hit by a gust of wind causing the rear end to start coming out from under us. The Active handling system lights came on and the car straightend right back out. It happened so fast it was just enough to send the "pucker factor" through the cieling. When I watch the in car video you can see where the car corrects the slide.
the car handled flawlessly other than the one incedent. This was my first time in a C5 car and was extremely impressed other than that the car could not pull in 6th gear over 160mph, so we had to run 5K+ rev through the whole rally in 5th gear.

If your car is equipped with F45 or F55 (magnetic shocks). Then active handling will play a role in shock stiffness. To what degree I dont know. I am pretty sure that active handling causes the pcm to enforce a torque limit on the pcm when it is turned on. Last time at the drag strip I ran 2 tenths quicker with AH/TCS off versus Competitive Driving mode.

There's a good article on how active handling works here:
