Default thunderracing.com Camshaft Kit

i am interested in this cam shaft kit, it ioncludes everything i need, i only need a new gm timing chain. is there a link to a write up of how to install a cam in my c5? i also need help in choosing a cam...i want a partial rough idle to a point where it is still comfotable inside the car where it is not shaking everything around me, but i can hear the lift/drop of the cam lobes and notice that i have a cam...thanks

I am working on the writeup right now infact.

It will be right here in 3-4 days.
https://ls1tech.com/howto

I have photos of every step, torque specs for every bolt, a list of tools and parts you'll need, and labels pointing to the stuff in the pictures I'm referencing.

About 3 minutes ago I just put in my TR227/224 camshaft into my C5...an hour ago I pulled the heads.

If I were you I'd buy the following:
TR224 cam on a 114lsa (114 for m6, 112 for A4)
JWIS timing chain (thunder racing has these too)
Katech Oil pump (TR again has it)
Front timing seal replacement
new crank pulley bolt

In addition, unless you are a sucker for pain, buy an ASP underdrive pulley. YOU WONT WANT TO GO IN HERE TWICE so kill 2 birds with one stone and get the pulley if you dont already have it.

Any other questions feel free to post...the whole writeup will hopefully be up by sunday.

Typically, yes, but in an M6 I can keep the rev's a little higher so that I'll stay in the powerband all the time....all while having a great idle. In an A4, unless you have a big stall, you'll be spending a fair amount of time in lower rpm's so the extra low end you might see from a 112 would help out a bit more. Granted, the idle will be rougher.

But yes, from a pure idle standpoint, the 114 would be better for the A4 and the 112 would work in the M6 just as well.

I'll probably never put anything but a 114lsa cam into my M6 again.

My T1 cam (112) idles really well. The whole car gets a little shake to it, but not so bad that I cant keep a full beverage in the cupholder , and you can see the engine move with the hood open at idle, but overall I love it.

I had stumbling and stalling but cleared it up with ls1edit.

Isn't 112lsa for M6 and 114ls1 A4.
