C5/ F-body drivers......differences?
or, i could, rig it back together, and trade it in on a 97-99 C5.
Im leaning HEAVILY towards the C5. Just wondering now guys, how much different are they to drive? examples are bueno
thanks guys...

- Excellent road feel in the corners..the IRS in the back is just great.
- factory dual exhaust, no more single over the axle pipe
- 300-500lbs lighter than an f-body while retaining all the luxury
- Much nicer interior
- the active handling and HUD available in a C5 are bad ***
Downsides:
- some parts cost more for a C5. Headers are a bit more in general, changing the rear axle ratio is something like a $2200 mod. All the LS1 specific stuff is pretty much the same price though.
- Cam swaps and pulley swaps take a couple hours longer. No real big deal
- people will look at you in a different way, many will start to think that YOU think you are better than them just because you have a C5. Some fbody guys I meet on the road now barely talk to me when I compliment their car. Everybody starts to think you are rich too.
- clutch swaps are a bit more difficult
Get the C5, mod from there. You are simply starting with a better platform if a road and street car is what you want. If you are just a drag racin dude, stick with the fbody.
I'm keeping the heads/cam off of my f-bod and putting them on the C5 (if i do get one ), i sold my 12bolt and afew other f-bod parts to save up for headers.........i'll figure the clutch out!
Im not too worried about other people on the road. A 20 year old in a trans am makes alot of the older guys around here look down on me anyways, so, f'em. Im enjoying myself.
I dont really get to the track alot. Most of what i do (racing wise) are roll-ons with a good group of friends...
so yeah......this is looking good. I sat in one the other nite, and i cant get over the difference in the interior. i was wrapped in leather, no plastic around!
thanks

thanks for the reply.

btw, I got my C5 two years ago and love it to death. my first vette. you have to drive one to really appreciate the differences in handling. best bang for the buck IMO. good luck, and shop around before you buy anything.

Road feel and comfort are much better than my T/A and power is pretty decent for a stock auto. I can only imagine what this thing would do with my heads/cam in it.
If I had to choose it would be the Vette all the way.
*still loves the T/A too*

First, there is nothing wrong with somebody not wanting to race their corvette. That is their choice. A person can enjoy a corvette without having to break any laws.
Second, I'm a dorky yuppie and I certainly don't need anybody talking any smack to me about what I drive. I'm just a dorky yuppie that tears apart my car myself and does heads/cam on it as soon as possible.
