Re: ZO6 Stock Cat-back vs. Magnaflow &Borla Stinger
Are you saying you have a 2002 Z06? If so the catback isnt gonna be worth much...maybe 5rwhp?
If you have a C5 then the Z06 catback would probably give you about 70% of the gains a high flowing aftermarket one would. Hard to say how much power that is without a full list of mods.
I beleive Jayson at MTI left the Z06 catback on his Z07 and said it worked quite well, and loved how quiet it was. He was probably giving up 10-15rwhp over a set of stingers would be my guess, but IMO stingers are just way too loud.

Yes a bone-stock Z06. Its a good friend of mines and he's been considering a cat-back. As you said I've been told the cat-back on the Z06 is very good. He was looking at the stinger but didn't pull the trigger cause I told him to spend his money on something that will get a decent ROI.
Thanks.

Well, if he wants a loud redneck'ish sounding C5, he should go for the stingers. If he wants horsepower, he should save up for headers or some real mod that is more of a bottleneck. A new induction system with headers should get him up there. The catback should be done last unless he just cant stand having a quiet exhaust.
