Default trade my 2000 transam for c5 corvette????

u think its a good idea to trade my 2000 transam with suncoast raptor hood, intake, exhaust, cutout, lowered for a 1997-1999 corvette? you think it is worth it? i just need some advice right now. even though the transam looks more aggresive. please comment on what you think.

I truely believe you need to drive one and make that decision yourself. I own a 2000 C5 and love it to death. I also love to drag race at the strip. I often get my *** kicked by F-body's. They are built to drag race. Y-body's (corvettes) are built for road racing. Not to mention only 2 seats. So if you want to truck some buddies around..........Forget about it (that can be a good thing at times or a bad thing)............They drive awesomely, but the IRS doesn't allow them to hook up at the drag strip like solid rear ends!

Just my 2 cents!!!!!!!!!!!

honestly, if you have the oppertunity to own a c5 corvette, do it!
a corvette is a corvette, there is nothing like it, its like comparing apples to oranges.and FWIW vettes dont really hook that bad, especially a m6 with some good tires!

oh, and get the vette...

The only thing the F-body and the Corvette share is the same engine. They are really 2 very different cars that feel worlds apart driving. The C5 is refined, smooth, and very well put together. The F-body is raw, and aggressive. I went to a vette and wondered why I even thought the F-body was so great in the first place.

I drove a Trans Am for 5 years. Drove a Vette, and that love affair ended pretty quick.

Same here if you drive a modified F Body like I did then go to a stock C5 the power feels well just not there (I traded my 00 M6 Z28 for a 99 A4). Even though it felt under powered I had plans anyway for it so it did not matter. But the way it drove was incredible. Even the baseline vette I got then was still much better then my F Body could ever be and my insurance dropped as well when I got the vette over the f body. Enough that the cost difference was almost none when the totals where figured with the insurance payment. Anyway, drive it then decide. Everyone on here will tell you to do it. Just gotta drive it. In all honesty the Corvette is a very practical car if you are single and the weather cooperates. I use mine to get groceries and daily driver. Have put close to 30,000 miles on it since i got it last year. My current 2000 C5 that is.

I have both a 99 C5 and a 99 SS, both 6 speeds. The SS has every bolt on under the sun, a cam, gears, blah blah blah. I've driven the SS literally ONCE since I bought the vette, and that was to move it out of my favored parking space. Does that tell you anything?

I made the switch from fbody to Vette two months ago and I already wonder where I am going to get the money for a second Vette in the future. I love my 2002 Vette!! I have other friends that made the switch and everyone is happy.

Anyway. I have owned both. I went from a vette to a Trans am and working on a house.

Yeah. The vette looks way better than a T/A and so much more comfortable.

Only issue is. Yes you can afford the payments. Yes You can afford the insurance. Can you afford the the "Vette Tax" My buddy just did a clutch. Excedy and labor. Almost $2800 later he was good as new. Thats $400 shy of AFR 205 heads and a custom cam package on a T/A.

I would get the vette unless you luv your TA and want to keep it and save up and wait for the vette you really want. My TA will be paid off this summer and the mods i am doing now are the last....next car in the future....c6 Z06 yellow or a c6 yellow convertible with a blacktop..i want to have both in my garage.....good luck just think of what you have in the ta so far and if you can sacrifice what you have done so far to get the vette......

The f-body has a live axle and is a uni body frame design, hence the need for sub frame connectors because the front frame is bolted to the body. The Corvette has a independent rear end and has a extruded rectangular tubing frame that goes from front to rear with bracing that makes a light but stout frame. Couple that with the dual wish bone suspension front and rear with shock over leaf spring and you get a car that has a suspension set up for pure handling. NO comparison with a f-body! Even a f-body with sub frame connectors, cross tower braces, upgraded shocks, springs, swaybars and bushings cannot keep up with a Corvette on a road race course. The f-body will always have under steer, whereas the Corvette has almost no under steer. It is one of the few cars that go where you point it at high lateral Gs. So if you want a car that is biast towards 1/4 mile, get a f-body. If you want a car that is a good track car for road racing, autocross, etc., then get a Corvette. The Vette is capable of great quarter mile times, but it is more of a all around sports car that excels in every category - braking, handling and acceleration.
I've owned both over the years and will always prefer a Corvette. Enough said.

No, I mean do the mods yourself instead of paying someone else to put them on. I agree on the condo thing though, I would rather have a house or a condo than a nice car, but I want to move out of Michigan in the next few months so I'm staying in my apartment until then.
