Congrats on the purchase Paul! Oddly, when I installed my TR heads/cam and did the ASP pulley with new belts, my pulley squeek went away. I guess the different amount of tension from the new belt was enough to make it go away for a while. Odd.
So, just do heads/cam/pulley

I have 8000 miles on my 2001 A4 and have had no problems at all. The biggest problem is having this big grin on my face at work after the drive in along the creek road.

I finally got in there and replaced my A/C blower motor...and wouldnt you know it, the next day the drivers side door lock started acting up again.
I guess that'll be my next fix.

Column locked last summer-left me stranded
Rotors warped at 25k miles.
DRL bulbs dont last long
runflats were a joke
water runs onto the rear speakers when the hatch is opened after a rain or a wash
poor fuel mileage-Im somewhat to blame

had the steering column lock fixed at the dealer, and they fixed a squeek in the steering column at the same time. one of the flanges on the passenger side exhauast pipe, in front of the rear axle, separated at the welded joint. took it up to the corner and the guy fixed it for $5.00. I didn't think he charged me enough, so I sent the guys there a couple of pizza's for lunch.
other than that, the biggest problem I've had is payment pains.

After 2 1/2 years and 56000 miles on my 2001 vert, I haven't had any major issues. Runflats were replaced at 44000 miles with Nitto 555. I have experienced the driver's door not unlocking, but that's a minor issue hardly worth mentioning.

The gauges/DIC flickered once under hard acceleration. Didn't totally go all the way out but they dimmed. Weird.

My driver's sides seat it starting to rip where I lean on it when I get out. I have heard this may be a common problem, especially if you roll out of the car as I do! Anybody else have this problem? It is hard to see, but the split is right at a crease.

On my 02 Z06 the only problem I have is that the driver seat is ripped at 3000 miles. I guess it happens from getting in and out too much or leaning on it. I know several people with this problem.

I have had my 2001 coupe for about a month or so now and it has used 2 qts. of oil in less than 1000 miles.
Oh and the emergency brake wont hold jack and air coming in passenger window at 65 and over.
I still love the car just wish it was as fast as the magazines say that they are.

Rear tires seem to wear out quickly.

The guy asked, "What problems have you had....." So naturally you are going to get a lot of people mentioning their problems....imagine that. This is just about 20 owners. There are probably 150,000 C5 owners out there. And regardless of what type of car you have, most will have a couple of minor glitches that will need to be fixed. I had some of the issues mentioned in my 2000 Coupe but my ZO6 has been pretty much trouble free. So just take this type of "poll" into perspective before you judge the vehicle as troublesome.
