How to cure wheel hop?
I'm guessing there's probably no way to fix the wheel hop in these cars but I might as well ask.
Tonight I went to the track, I launch at idle, and right around 5000rpms the tires would just totally let loose in first gear and the rear of the car was hopping BAD. It setoff my ABS/TCS/AH codes telling me to service all 3 systems after the run, and my radar detector was thrown from the windsheild at me as it was so violent.
I'm running standard 18" wheels with street tires. Does lower tire pressure help? Any alignment settings that could reduce wheel hop? The problem also happens a lot when its wet outside, pretty much whenever I dont have traction.

Re: How to cure wheel hop?
maybe running a lower psi will help, what about a set of coilovers? thats the only thing i can really think of. Cant do some of the other stuff like subframes, lower control arms and all that...maybe coils and/or a lower psi will help? only one way to find out...

Re: How to cure wheel hop?
A buddy of mine had a real bad wheel hop in his c4 corvette which is running 11.40's. He eliminated it by switching to the QA1 adjustable shocks. Just my 2 cents.

I went with the touring suspension on mine, hoping it would allow for more *** end squat on launch, still hops. BTW the 01 Z I drove hopped as bad or worse.

Speaking of squat, thats the one reason I havent changed my shocks/springs yet. Right now my car squats then blows the tires away. Since I installed the like lock I cured that, at the expense of my clutch.
I'm hoping for 11's in '03, if I can get traction. <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

Re: How to cure wheel hop?
I know this does not seem logical.. But I had wheelhop with my 18's when I had the vette rims.
Of course it wasdecreased a LOT with the $1,000 suspension "BMR Trak Pak" but it was still there.
Went back to stock rims and its TOTALLY gone.
Its the size of the rims.. If you want to buy smaller ones just for the track "Some sort of drag welds maybe?", that will totally cure it
