Default top speed

does any one know what the top speed is for an a4 c5 is it true that it is higher than the m6, is there a rev limiter on the auto?. what is the fastest that some of you have gone in an a4 auto. i lost to a ws6 on the hwy we went from 55 to 110 we where even up until 90 then he started to pull a car on me do you think i could have caught him before he hit his rev limiter? thanks.

If he didnt start pulling until 100 you would have caught him and kept pulling eventually.

I really dont know what the A4 top speed is, but I suspect its at least 170. The exact speed probably depends if you have 3.23 or 2.73 gears.

Remember, if you both have the same gears and both have A4's you'll have a faster top speed because of aerodynamics and a larger tire height.

Theoretically, it might be higher than the MN6, but not by much. I had my A4 up to 155 but it still had more in it. If you lost to a WS6 on the top end it was probably due to you having the 2.73 gears and/or he was a bit modded or you caught the MN6 right in his powerband. There is a chance that you may have made up the difference mainly because of aerodynamics(as long as he wasn't just killing you on the horsepower) The optional gear in the A4 is the 3.15(not 3.23). There are Rev limiters on the A4 AND the MN6. It is just that the A4 usually shifts before the rev limiter is reached. I have a buddy with a supercharged A4 and that is the problem he is fighting now. The car revs faster than the stock tune can shift so it hits the limiter.....something LS1 Edit can cure. Hope this helps a little.

t/a had to be modded, my a4 c-5 with 2.73's runs away with t/a's and z-28's from 60 to 120, the more distance we go the harder it pulls. he had done some mods on the car. get you a ram air kit and cat back system and go get him....

I had my dads a4 98 with 2.73's up to ~175 and it still felt solid. Not something I would ever do again

Hit 160 in my 98 C5. It has the base suspension, has no front sway bar, and is lowered 1", it felt a little loose up top.

Something is wrong with your scenario. I raced my friend's 01 C5 A4, 3.15s(?), cat back and Vortex Intake only, and once wi his 105, he started pulling me because of the aerodynamics. He had some mods!

My 2001 Vette may be slow in the 1/4 but I took it up to 175 yesterday with no problem. It had more but that was all I wanted to see. The car is a 6 speed with a blackwing.

Some magazine got a Z06 to over 170mph (i wanna say its around 176 or so) all stock.

But theoretically, w/ the lower gear ratio, the A4s should be pulling higher top speeds then the M6 cars...only way to know is take that baby out and see for yourself first hand <img border="0" alt="[evil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

Just watch your back...smokey's loves speeders lol

And ive had my dads 91 L98 coupe up to around 120 before, so im sure the C5 w/ an auto can hit well above 170
