An LS1 and LS6 are basically the same thing with different heads. Thats like asking if an LT4 can fit in an LT1 car. Of course it can, because its the same engine!

yep, Angus over in the Texas Forum has an LS6 in his Firehawk. Replaced it when he hydrolocked the LS1 and the LS6 was only a little more and since insurace was paying....
I know it is not a vette, but it is an LS6 in an LS1 car.

The LS1 and LS6 are both the same size, with only the heads, cam, and PCV system (and fuel rail covers) being different between the two.

Did you also install the Z06 MAF? I know that it has a different calibration than the LS1 MAF due to the fact it doesn't have a screen. Did you have to replace any of the other electronics? How did you handle the PCM tuning? reflash with the Z06 load, LS1 Edit, Predator tune.....etc?

Only 02+ LS6 MAFs dont have a screen. The 01s have a screen on 'em, but i wouldnt be suprised if most aftermarket/stock replacement units dont have a screen

The LS6 block is externally the same as a LS1 but the LS6 has some slightly diferent webbing cast into it internally for strength and better cooling. The LS6 heads can be bolted onto the LS1 as can the LS6 intake and cam. These are the "go faster bits" in the LS6. If there is nothing wrong with your LS1, the smarter way to go would be to fit a Stage II head with appropriate cam (like the Thunder Racing TR224), headers/extractors, the LS6 intake manifold and a performance air filter system. That's just my 2 cents worth.
