Default Looking at getting a vette..question tho

I am seriously thinking about going from Fbody to Vette this is a big step for me, I'm 19 and this is my dream car, i figure after my car is sold and i have the vette, tag title etc, after putting some money away i'll have about 4k to play w/on the new car, my questions are, what should i do w/4k, it will be m6 c5, also is it really worth it?

You know I am the same age thinking about doing the same exact thing...trading my Hawk for a Vette. I really need to test drive one. Good luck and tell me what you get!

You will find you have not only straight line performance, but it will corner flat like on a rail as well. Not sure what year you are looking at, but you might want to keep the $4K to get a later year Vette as improvements were made throughtout the production run. For instance, if looking at a 99, I think the 00 went with the 2nd version of active handling which is better. In 02 you get the newer rings and pistons. So although not performance modifications, there may be a better way to spend the $4K if you have it by getting a newer car.

Drive one, and you be the judge, I dont think you will be disapointed, my best friend has an 00 SS, and its a sick car, but the z06, just does everything a lil better.

Is it worth it? Hell, yes it is!

I loved my modded 1999 Camaro SS, but when I sold it and got the 'Vette I never looked back.

P.S.- You'l save on your auto insurance too.

Zip tie mod is taking the factory air lid off and zip tying the air filter to the bottom portion connected to the mas. Its been said to get 14rwhp/11rwtq on average. Great mod for the cost IMHO. I did it with ported MAS and I noticed a HUGE difference by the seats of teh pants. I'll be getting dyno #'s in a few weeks!

Yes it is worth it. I am 19 and I own a 2001 Z06 Corvette... I bought the car when I was 18 and I'm still lovin' it!
With $4k I would save around $1,000 more and get a used Supercharger kit... or get a cam and all of the bolt on mods. Either way you will like it

Where the heck are you 18 and 19 year olds getting the resources to buy Vettes? Hell, I was lucky to afford my truck payment after all the rest of the bills (apartment, utilities, etc.) when I was 19. Are you all living with your parents still?

Well, the way I figure it, you can afford anything depending on how big of a priority you make it. I am young and dumb and I think having a 300+ car payment and 100+ insurance payment is well worth having a ride like a Firehawk or a Vette. Might as well do it now since I might not be able to when I am older lol.

$300+? Let me guess, 6-7 year note?

My Vette cost me over $800 per month between insurance ($96 - and I'm 36), payment ($620 on a 5 year note with $30K financed - A+ credit rating, 4.25%), fuel and maintainence costs. Better look at the bigger picture and not just the payment and insurance. These cars break, too, and when they do, it's a lot more expensive to repair than an F-body.

I have a 4 yr note on my Z06... but I also put $12,500 cash down on it to make the payments lower... I had sold my 95 superchargered cobra and I took all of the money from that plus a couple thousand out of my bank that I had been saving up... So that is how I am able to afford a Z06.

I got a 15.5 at 5.11% for 60 months and it is 326.86. After 13 months, I still owe 12.5 or so. And my insurance is 134 under my mom so i get a break. I have to pay for everything and it sucks. Luckily my school gets kind of paid for with loans and scholarships. I should live at home for free and since we have a college here I could go to it would be easier but who wants to do that? lol

Paying for everything sucks, but it makes you appreciate it. You'll more likely trash the **** out of it when its given to you vs having to buy it yourself and spend your $$ to fix **** that breaks outside of malfunctions (read - not driving the **** out of it and breaking).

And loans arent a bad thing. They make your life a little easier in college now-a-days. But I'd be 100% certian that I can swing a vette payment + insurance + maintenace (look into not only oil changes, but clutchs/tq verts, shocks, tires etc) on top of all the other things you're going to pay for.

I bought my vette when I was 19 as well, hell if im gonna work 70-80hr weeks, I gonna have the car I want. With 4 grand I would buy heads/cam package you'll get the best results that way. My insurance isnt that bad either despite me poor drving record. 368 every two months. Im 22 now and saving for a viper.
