I would definitely recommend the Vette. I really like the F-Bodies, but at your age and to own a Vette is really great thing. When I was 8 years old (1970) I fell for a 70 Yellow Stingray. I knew one day I would own one. Here we are 35 years later and Vette number three. I will never own anything other than a Vette. You will definitely be surprised about what Corvette ownership brings, that no other car on the planet can. It is something so special that only other Corvette owners have experienced first hand. You will find out once you own one. It is so hard to describe the bond people have to their Vettes and other Vette owners. It doesn't matter if it is a 74 Vette, or a 63 split window. You will find out lol! Go for it!

I went from LS1 SS to Z06 and the Vette is totally different animal. So yes, it is worth it as long as you don't mind a car with two seats.

Better look at the bigger picture and not just the payment and insurance. These cars break, too, and when they do, it's a lot more expensive to repair than an F-body.
damn man. thats alot of money for a car. i pay 513/month for 5 years. insurance is 220/month since i am almost 26. i am paying 5percent interest and put down 6 thousand dollars.

Hell yes it is worth it. I went from a 98 Cobra to a 02 Camaro to a 03 Cobra then a 02 Z06. I just sold my Z06 last friday and I am now buying a GTS Viper. I love stepping up. I say do it and get a Viper next.

Yeah, but how much was the car and how much do you have financed?

The ones we need to feel for are those that paid full sticker. I have never paid full sticker for a car (even new) and never will (knock on wood). 30 grand for a car is nothing these days.

I am also considering a vette but would like to know what are the big problems areas if there are any that are almost certain to break?

Thanks in advance

I am looking at Head & Cam 00 GTS right now all done up with HRE rims. Not sure if we going to agree on a price but I threw him an offer today. My second choice is a 01 GTS that only has 1400 miles on it for 58,000. I am also still debating if I want to go a little older and get a 99 with the forged pistons and then supercharge it. Ahh such tough choices. I almost bought a 97 Blue with white stripes GTS and decieded to get a newer car as I will put a lot of miles on the car. I am going to use the Viper as a somewhat dailey driver.

Oh and just in case that was sarcasm. I have driven both back to back. Or my 02 Z06 and a 04 SRT 10. I think the Z06 is a more refined car and easy to go fast in. The Viper gets 1 million times the attention and is very fun to drive but not as comftrable. But I dont drive my cars for comfort. So any GTS from 96-2002. Dont like the RT-10's or the SRT-10's in the looks department.

No sarcasm, I was just curious so I could see which horsepower you were talking about given the year. My 03 ZO6 as you probably noticed, made you think I was being sarcastic lol! No way

I have had 3 Vettes a 94', 99' and now 2003. The cars are pretty reliable. Never really had any major problems. The C4's do have some digital dash problems and are the biggest collector of water after a wash. You have to watch the weather stripping if you are planning on a 84-96. The older C5's have had some interior wear problems on the seat bolsters and stiching. The later C5's with manual transmissions have had problems with the syncro's and shift forks going around 10,000mi. All in all, they are very easy to maintain and most Vette owners tend to make sure the car has anything it needs.
