Yes, the pre-01 Vettes have a smaller MAF. I want to say '01+ is 85mm. The older style also has a different electrical connection as the unit includes an integrated intake air temperature sensor the later unit doesn't have. I believe the 97-00 C5 unit is the same one used on the F-body.

OK, I've learned that even though the internal MAF area gets larger on the later models the MAF ends that accept the tubing are all 3.5". I was looking at air intake systems trying to figure out why they were labeled differently. I believe the only real difference on these intakes is that the earlier ones have the hole to accept the Inlet Air Temperature sensor.

[QUOTE=JasonWW] Positive, I have MFG cool air systems for the C5 since early 2000. I also owned 1) 1999 FRC 2) 2000 FRCs, and still own a 2001 Z06.
When the '01s came out it took me a few weeks to track down a new filter to fit on the MAF. There's lots of choices in 3.5" and 4" but finding a 3.75" took a little doing.
The scaling is also different for 97-00, 01, and 02-04.

That's not what I'm hearing. Are you sure?

OK, I don't think it matters anymore in my particular instance. I myself was scouring through different aftermarket corvette air filter kits to find something that I could modify for my Trans Am. I know my LS1 MAF connector is 3.5" OD, but most vette filter kits don't tell you the size of their tubing and they also tend to have different kits for the 97-00 and the 01-04. What's unusual is that some of the vette kits use a 3" tubing while others use 3.5" tubing. I was throwing me off.
I eventually did find a kit that the company responded to me saying their tubing was 3.5". Now that I've found something that will match up just right to my stock MAF, I'm all good to go.
Thanks for the help guys and remember to always ask about the tubing size on any aftermarket filter kits so that you don't get a smaller diameter along with a reducer to make it fit. It may work, but you wouldn't want to use that, would you?
