Default ECS Paxton install started

Worked on the car about 8 hours yeaterday. I'm a little over half way done. It's been ok so far. Looks like they upgraded the power steering bracket at some point, mines totally solid all the way across unlike the one in the directions. It does not wasn't to break at all. I cut all the way through the top with a porting burr. Finally got it to break. Also the spacer for the AC tensioner was not cut down enough on the lathe and was making the tensioner bind up. I ended up drilling out a small washer and using it as a spacer between the tensioner and the aluminum spacer..So a few snags that slowed me down a few hours... I plan to finish it off next Sat..This should be a good comparison between the Maggie and the Paxton. I am changing nothing else on the except the supercharger system

Looks amazing! i too one day want to install a blower on mine, but what the heck will i do with 800rwhp??? LOL..

Nice Install, looks really clean. Two questions for you is that kit intercooled? by looking at the plumbing I would guess that it is. Second question is a little off basis, but what the hell. I noticed that you have no soundproofing on your hood, and was just wondering how much louder the engine noise is without it.

Any driving impressions yet? Any lack of torque w/o the maggie. What do you think?

Thanks

Got the car dynoed. First run at 16degs timing and 11.6/1 AFR was 617rwhp/572rwtq. We wanted it really safe so we pulled the timing to 14degs and added fuel to 10.5/1AFR and made 601rwhp/538rwtq...I am seeing 10psi at 6000rpm, thats were we stopped. There is more in it if I run it to 6500rpm. The other lines were with the previous Maggie 8psi...I made no other changes from the Maggie to the Paxton. By 3700rpm or so the Paxton is making more HP and TQ from there on...I'm very happy with the results... Mods in sig. stock LS1 bottom end and stock heads...

How much...$6400 for the kit..About 12-16 hours to install if you work slow like me.. It drives great. It doesn't hit as hard as the Maggie but it pulls alot harder, way harder...

Those are uncorrected numbers though. Not SAE numbers. Real awesome for a stock motor though. I'm looking at the ECS or the A&A kit. One or the other.

I've heard the magna has bad heat stroke issues after driving it for a bit. Any trueth to that? My freind is doing that same kit from ECS only on an LS2 block. Anything tricky on the install or was it pretty straight forward?

The only heat issue with the magna was with the intercooler water. It would get hot if you sat still for a while. And inbetween runs at the drag strip the water would have no way to cool down.

The install on the ECS kit takes alot of work. The instructions are not all that great, nor are the pics in the instructions. There will be alot you will have to figure out on your own. That or you will spend alot of time on the phone with ECS. I know thay are still working on the instructions to make them better. On a scale of 1-10, 4 being an experienced do it your self job and 10 being a pro job, I would rate this as a 6-7.

Did you have to fabricate anything or were all the parts accounted for? I see that lots of guys are running these on stock bottom ends. Nice ride BTW

WOW man, excellent numbers!!! i told u!!! you'd be upwards of 550hp!!! isn't it awesome when a stock bottom end can hold 600+rwhp!!!
looking at your maggie dyno, the difference is truly amazing, but keep in mind, the air temp when dynoing the maggie was 101* out, compared to your 65* dyno with the PAxton... thats a lot of heat sock on the motor and blower, esp a maggie...

at any rate, congrats on the new setup! now your REALLY going to love dropping coin on tires!!! LOL

My next $$$ will be spent on upgrading my fuel system to keep up... Even at its best and pushing 10psi in 60 degs cool weather, the maggie only made about 510rwhp. At least thats what I figure with the 127mph trap speed and the weight of the car..
