Default front air dam removal?

Hey guys and gals, I've lowered my Vette a couple of inches and the only clearance problem I have is with that dang air dam on the underside of the front of the car. I want to remove the entire thing, but as usual, I want the opinions of the "pros". LMK...Thanks

If you do it she will over heat. It is there to route air up to the radiator. The only way to make it work is to run the fans all the time.

I ran with intake and long tubes without the air damn forever in Arizona heat with no probs on the stock cooling system. I put it back on when I installed the blower though, just in case.

I guess I stand corrected but I would not try it. I know the Fbodies overheat without theirs and assumed the same thing on the vette.

Well it's not hard to remove it and drive around to test temps. Let it warm up, blast around the block 5 times or whatever, and check your coolant temp on your digital display. That's what I did. It never passed 225 degrees on hard romps, so I left the thing off.

Some people trim an inch or two off as well. That way they still have something directing air.

I lowered my car 3 1/2 inches,i cut the air damn in half,(from side to side),took off the side pieces,no problems, and it's always hot here,it still scraps as it's about a 1/2" off the ground, but it's also on a hinge,so it rolls back when plowing stuff,i still have my origanal one there after 4 years of abuse.

Thanks for the input! I have held off on lowering because of this thing scraping more than it already does. Now I have a fall back position if I do lower.

If my car was THAT low I might cut the height down on it but I would not advise removing the entire thing.
