Z06 - 3,116 lbs.
Trans Am WS6 - 3,477 lbs.

That's good for approximately a .3 advantage in the quarter mile.

I'm not sure that just exactly how that translates into hp, but I would guess you are going to need a good 30 rwhp more than he has just to keep up. Be careful though if he gets any mods, a set of LG Longtubes will add +30 rwhp alone to the Z06.

I'd say that's light for a TA. Closer to 3700 IMO. Most are fully optioned. Add 17s and heavy tires...

As an owner of both I'd say it's a drivers race. When my Formula was putting down 382 rwhp and my Z06 was bone stock, it was close. My timeslips were fairly close in trap speed. Different track days and different weather conditions it's hard to say which one was faster.
Currently with 392 rwhp, I give the advantage to the Firebird. Also one factor is I have a hardtop Formula with low options which is also the lightest of the 4th gen Fbods I believe.

I went with an 03 because I had to have electron blue.
I also liked the HUD

The difference between the 01 and the 02 is

LS6 engine (Z06 model) receives 20 horsepower increase, to 405 hp, and receives 15 foot pounds more torque for a total of 400 lbs. ft. of torque
Pre-cat deletion
Revised rear shock valving
Aluminum front and rear stabilizer bar links
Aluminum transmission cooler case
Magnesium wheels no longer available (coupe and convertible)
Z06 wheels are now cast aluminum, not forged aluminum
Head-Up Display (HUD) now standard
Cam/Valve/Spring change
Electron Blue exterior color

Electron blue started in 2002 btw.

Let us know the outcome of the race when it happens.

It should be a close race... Most 01's dyno more around 350rwhp stock... When I had just Borla mufflers and a blackwing filter, I hung with Trans am's that had more around 400rwhp.
