Default looking to buy a Z06 i need your help.

hye guys i am looking at an 01 Z06 with low miles. i called and spoke with the people at the dealership on saturday, and they said that they can work out some arrangements on price, etc. here is the deal and i want to know if you think it is possible for me to pull this off.

First off let me say i will be getting outside financing and paying the tax with cash when i get my plates.

I have an 01 SS with 62k on it. decent shape needs new rear tires, front are brand new. has a scratch on the door, and a tear in the drivers seat. runs great no other serious problems. mods are in sig. it also has CME exhaust a billet grill, chrome SS wheels, other little odds and ends. more that i am assuming will not help, and may actually even hurt, but i thought i would add either way.

The Z06 is going for 29995 and has like 7k miles on it. appears to be in great shape , but ihav enot checked carfax yet the dealership says everything is clean.

I want them to work out a deal with me that i walk out the door 29k and the car is mine, they get my SS and i will pay tax myself.

Am i shooting in the dark or do i stand a chance?

thanks
Louie

PS i am getting a call tomorrow from my bank to see if i am going to get the financing(i count on it from what they say/i have a loan with them now.)

Let me know what you think.

well as we all know the search fuction is not working as well as it used to so i havent been able to really search the problems i did find jrods page as far as what is different. most of the things seem negligible to be honest. i also heard that there may be oil blowby issues along the lines of 1 quart per 5000 miles or so, which i can live with. if there are any other problems please let me know, but also if you think that i can pull this off(maybe even a better deal since it is 01) let me know.

Maybe even help with how i should approach it and everything.

you can definitely find better a better deal as far as price is concerned. They're out there, you just have to be patient and look everywhere. I'm not sure, but I think that the 01's were recalled for the ring job if it was having problems??? Someone with an 01 may have more info. You'll luuuvvvv the difference b/t a camaro and a Z06! I've had mine for about 3 months now, and I'm still drooling! Good luck with yours. Let us know what you end up doing, and don't forget to post pics!

well a big part of this is that i owe 13.3k on my camaro. other than that i thought if i got away for 29 i would be in awesome shape...i cant believe that most dont think that it is a good deal! although i must admit that i have not looked around a whole lot but all the ones that i see are priced even higher.

I will see what the bank has to say tomorrow and then i will haggle on the price....i am unwilling to spend more than 29 but also looking to get away with as good a deal as possible....and either way i look at it i may theoretically have to "roll over" cash in one way or another even if they say they are gonna break me even.

$29k is a high price for an 01. But if they give you a good deal on your trade maybe it is worth it. Personally I would save for at least an '02. Just dont get to anxious, people are selling Corvettes every day.

Be patient there are 02s & newer out there for the same$ And If you look long enough there are some low mileage ones out there. Check out www.z06vette.com

Give serious consideration to selling your car your self. No matter what deal they give you they will steal your car from you. Put some cheap tires on the back and spend $100 for a good detail and sell it your self. Then shop around. It is your money.

If they have $20,000 in that car I would be surprised. You can bet they stole it form the previous owner.

I paid 30k for my 2001 Z06 last feb with 9k miles on in and practically mint. Talking $ before seeing the car is hard to do. It might be good or bad. The oil issue can be 1qt in 500-1k miles in some bad cases, there was a TSB about it and some people had fixes under warranty. Mine uses about 1qt every 1-2k miles. I'm not worried about it really. Just keep an eye on it. Was due to low tension rings they used. Won't hurt anything, just excess oil usage. These cars are light and make mad power stock, put a cam in it and there u go
that's what I did and it'll run with almost anything the road.

Look not all 01 Z06s had oil use problems. In fact it was a small percentage. I have seen plenty that have no problem whatsoever. There was a poll of 01 owners on the other site, and it was just as I say, few problems out of a large group of cars. Its just that these things get perpetuated online by people repeating over and over what they've "heard". Yes there was a service bulletin issued about oil consumption, but people tend to blanket all 01s with this problem. If you are going to build a bigger motor later, who cares anyway. I also think that a "asking" or starting price of 29k especially at a dealer for such a low mile car is not bad at all. These cars arent out there for low 20 grand all day or something with no miles, otherwise everyone would have one. Price regular vettes with the same miles, same year and see. The difference in a couple of g's over 60 or 72 months is small too. I would pay a few $$ more for a low mile car.

They will definatley STEAL your car from you. I bought my car off a guy for 16000. I went to a chevy dealer 5 months ago to drive a C6 and I wanted to see what they would give me for my car. It had 48000 miles and everything else was in great shape. It did have exhaust and some other mods. They told me it was only worth 7000 dollars them. I almost hit the guy in the face!!! Definately sell your car yourself, you will get way more than they will give you. You will get what its worth, more than likely. Good luck!!!

You're going to be on the losing end of the trade in.

You owe 13.3 by they'll only give you a fraction of that for it. Not only do you have to hagle for the car, you have to do it for the trade in as well.

You're better off selling the car yourself and buying the vette outright.
