Question Anyone Ever Replace bearings in the DIFF?

My Z06 rear has a bad bearing, it is just generally noisy at every speed. I suspect the carrier bearings... Has anyone went through one of these units before? The gears do not whine Im certain its a bearing or two....

i've swapped out the left output shafts, never heard of a bearing going bad, sure it's not a wheel bearing? does the noise go away when you turn L or R?

when turning the car L or R you'll actually feel grinding, throbbing on the steering wheel and is more noticable at higher speeds. Which ever direction you feel it that will be the wheel bearing that is bad. If it is a bearing you will be better off replacing the wheel hub.

Noise is not notciable at low speeds. It is coming from the rear of the car, and just a general LOUD noise from the rear area. Ive seen a very simliar noise in my F-bod when the carrier bearings went south....

Mine was making a sound from about 65+ and it was the hub/bearing assembly. I even took it to 21st and let them listen and they confirmed. I did my rears yesterday and it is quiet again. There are some excellent instructions on Jake Latham's website. The first one took me awhile, but the second was a breeze.

I have that noise on my 99 FRC when turning right on high speeds only.I'll be pulling the rear wheels and checking the hub bearings.

You guys were right, I think it is a wheel bearing. If I turn hard right while cruising the noise goes away, then of course comes right back. I think its the right rear.....
