Default Need some opinions

I have a rather low mile 2000 FRC ( 14k miles ). I am going to upgrade the injectors and fuel pump, and then have a 150 dry shot put in and tuned. I was thinking of upgrading the exhaust with a headers, x-pipe, catback , but then after doing some reading i am kinda getin the idea that this would only give me an extra 20-25 rwhp.

I dont plan on ever doing any engine mods like cam, heads, turbo ect, since this car will be more of a nice street car/sunny day cruise car, not a race car or hardcore street monster. So should i leave my exhaust alone ? If it was an F-body id just do it anyways, since headers and a x-pipe to bullets is like 800 for a compleat deal, but on a vette catbacks and headers are super expensive .

edit: also im wondering if i will need to get a new clutch to handle the 150 shot, my only other mods are a CAI and shifter, and ill be geting some nittos out back for when i go to the track.

Well, I like the sound of exhaust...so I'd say get some long tubes, high flow cats, and Borla Stingers. (I say this because that's what I have and love the sound) And yes, they are a bit pricey.

As for a clutch....I can't answer you there. My 125 dry shot is being installed now and I'll have it at the dyno on Friday. If all goes well, I'll have it at the track on Sunday. Hopefully I won't need a new clutch before I leave the track.

If you run on a sticky tire (DRs or stickier), you'll need a new clutch

When I first installed my blower, I put some drag radials on my stock wheels. First test drive on the street with them and the stock, ~6000 mile, clutch wouldn't hold.

Just got the tune done. 480 rwhp / 502 ft/tq

Not sure if I'll be able to hit the track tomorrow. Looks like a halfshaft joint leak...If I change my mind, I'll post up some numbers. I just don't want to contaminate the track.

No matter what you do,.....you can only move so much air & fule unless you address this. you will be limited to the "stock" peramiters. I think you should think about moving as much volume through the "system" as you can, from stem to stern like maybe,........big intake, hedders, hy-flow cats, Big x-pipe,& big axcel back. I honestly think that only then will you reilise the $$$$ for whatever else you want to do!,..........or not.

Ok here's the latest. Yes, looks like a high performance clutch is needed. I was pulling some horrible times on spray due to clutch issues. At the end of each run it was sticking to the floor... And when I got home, it didn't want to go into reverse, but lucky for me I know how to use a rubber mallett and was able to "manipulate" it.

No more spray until I get a better clutch and shift forks...

if you plan to throw some spray on it and keep it a street machine, just go w/the fuel pump and run a wet shot, gut the cats if you cannot afford exhaust system then have it tuned and delete the rear o2's............ if your going to put sticky tires on it you'll need a dte brace, hardened output shaft, and clutch, at the very least, and I would do those before you go spray!
