Default C5 Differential Question
Is there a c-clip to the passenger side axle internal to the differential like it is on the driver side?

but is it internal to the differential, for instance, if it were to slip off, would it grind in the gears?

It takes some finesse to get it off. I don't think it would just slip off. However, if someone didn't install it correctly, anything can happen.
