Default z06 or M3

Ok guys, in a dillema here. Im trying to decide between a 2002 or possible 03 Z06 vette or M3. I have a 02 325ci now and just cant take not having any power.

I have always loved torque, basically describes me right off the bat. I have always had muscle cars in the family and decided to go more refined with the BMW. I love the vehicle dont get me wrong, but i cant stand having only 189hp or whatever it is to the ground. Mind it I am now 20 and bought the car on my own, it was all I could afford at the time.

So what do you guys think? Z06 or M3?

Im not sure on insurance but the z06 is a little bit cheaper than the M3, with lower miles in general for those years. My worry would be warranty. Which I assume the vette is out of being older.

For me it would be no contest....Z06. That said, you need to make up your mind which one is a better fit for you.

Do you wanna go fast?....or really fast?

Z06 for the latter.

One is clearly faster then the other, and capable of way more..... The BMW is awesome but, very different man. If your not into modding at all, maybe you should go for the M3. The Z06, is the way i'd go.

I had a 96 M3.... great car put about 100k on it without one problem, cept the plastic water pump.

My friend has a 02 M3 and my coupe takes him, no questions. IMO nothing beats a C5 for the money.

The mods are going to delete your sig when they see it... no animated sigs allowed.
The avatar is too large... If you want to keep the avatar resize it or post up in the "Users Support" section at the top of this site and post about needing help with resizing.

BTW Zo6 > M3 ~Joshua

My good friend has a M3(03) and its very nice but unless you need the back seat its a no-brainer. ZO6 all the way.

Ya, all the BMW drivers I have meet are ***'s. I think Im going to go with the Z06, I love modding, thats what I do best. MY buddy's father owns a chevrolet dealership and we get to go in there on the weekend and use their lifts and such whenever we fix or modify anything, its really nice.

It just cost to much to mod the BMW and it does not net that much when your done.

The only downfall is, my g/f thinks the corvette is an old mans car and thinks its the ugliest car on the road. Ohwell I guess she will have to live with it for a year or so before I get another car.

I would get the Z06 if you can get one with an extended warranty. Being 20 you probably don't have a lot of extra money to be dumping into repairs. One thing to consider is if you live in a climate that snows in the winter a beater is a must. You cannot drive a Z06 in the snow period, so you will have to have a second car. There have been many people who have run into the same decision as you and after test driving both they have all gone for the Z06.

A guy at work test drove both and he's in a Z06, the guy I bought my Z06 from got an M3 to replace his Z06 because he needed the extra room for his new baby and he was very depressed to have to sell the Z, even after he had the M for a while. When I said why are you so sad you have a brand new M3 now, he said that it's just not anywhere near as fast. I even considered the M for a while and in the end decided I wanted more performance for the dollar.

When I do track days at road circuits M3s are always holding me up. They are quite heavy, low on power, Could not keep up with my sons camaro.

I think you need to decide ehich is more important speed and handeling or a back seat and refinement. Bimmers build quality is second to no one, but my z06 isnt as refined as my brothers e46 m3 "that I have logged many miles on.

Good luck

Buy the Z! Don't look back, MOD and watch the M3s disappear in your rearview mirror!

I think the M3 is a hot car, but I really think that the ZO6 is one of the hottest sportscars in the world.

Definately the Z06 my man. However your question is going to recieve a pretty biased answer here on LS1tech.

Good luck

My coworker had a 7XX BMW. Had problems with workmanship (interior falling apart everywhere) and each time she had to take it back to the dealership, it was HUGE $$$. That's the only person I know who has one around here, and she ended up donating it. Couldn't even sell it for >$1500. I'm not saying all of them are that way, but the only one I know about was a complete POS.

I'd get the Z06 without hesitation. If you get the 04 model, it'll still be in warranty, and you can buy the extended warranty from a dealership as long as it's still covered. There are also other companies who sell extended warranties, I just got a brochure from a company who's warranty covers the car (bumper to bumper) for $2200. Cool thing is that it's up to 100,000miles with NO time limit!!!!

Good luck with your decision!
