My c5 i just picked up when i come to a stop and sit there drops down to about 30psi for the oil, i thought it was supposed to be around 40. I just want to make sure that this is not a problem because if it is id rather do something about it now
Thanks guys

Damn, thats pretty high hot idle. I guess because the oil is so much thicket.
I see as low as 29psi after I give the car a good stretch, low comp motor, Mobil 1 10W30, at 220 degrees.
Some guys see as low as 8psi at hot idle!!!!! Now THATS a little scary to me.

thicker oil, little higher flowing filter, shimmed pump. usually use redline oil. but lately been using mobile 1 15/50.
8lbs at hot...OIL IS TOOOOO THIN!!!! (imo)

Great, i was a bit worried now
, just hooked up my autometer oilpressure gauge for the first time and started the LS1 in my 67 Camaro, mine is steady at 30 psi to
. Thought it was supposed to be 50 psi at idle

Automatics and manuals will have a different oil pressure at idle due to the automatic having a lower idle, so keep this in mind.
Mine has an idle oil pressure of 28-29 psi when the oil temperature is 200F. Mine is auto, but the idle has been raised by 100rpm via LS1 edit.
I'm running German Castrol 0w30, which is almost a 0w40.
