It all depends of what you mean by best. Best price or best parts. I'd give MTI a call, they sem to have tons of cars running the juice!

LME hands down, they have built both the record holding 10.5" tire turbo car engine, 7.98 @ 179 mph., and the record holding LSX headed nitrous power formula, 8.57, mph unknown. Both engines have been punished brutaly, and have held together. They have an awesome customer service and track record for engine building.

Give Mike over at Icon Autosports a call. I know they spray a pretty big (300+) shot on their black bird. LME does all of his motors as well.

My choices as well for a Nitrous motor.
I would add Cartek to the list.

Synergy does a great in house hand built setup.

Another vote for LME... very knowledgeable and I think they do ALL (machining and building) the work. If there's an issue there's no finger pointing and customer service is excellent from the point of getting the right components to a completed breakin.

Give me a call as well if you are in Houston. The engine is the easy part but the tuning is what will make or break it if you are really talking really big nitrous! The pistons and rings are different for big NOS and so is the cam. I have done many of these as well and have NOS small blocks in the low 8s that are reliable. The LS1 is not the best NOS motor because of the head gaskets but it can work with the right parts and the right tuning.

Man I love LS1Tech. You ask a question, and you'll get answers. I just found out the other night that my wife has taken the liberty of taking all of my info sheets, from MTI, Texas Speed and LME. I thought she was throwing them away, because I have spent more then $63,000.00 on the car (including the price of the car.) I then found some reciepts and was told by a little birdy, that she went in with my mother-n-law and bought me a new motor for my b-day and Christmas present. Cool huh.? Well, I just spent the money I had set aside for the project I'm working on, on a new home a/c. $5,400.00... OUCH!!!! Well, I like Jason and Scooter from MTI, I would recommend them anyday. I like Jason from Texas Speed as well, they did my heads for this project. But, it's my wife's money and she read all of my notes, and made her decision. So, LME it is. I'll let you guys know how the build went. So far from talking to Brian there at LME, everything is going along smoolthy..... Great customer service. I have called him a million times to ask questions. He always takes the time to explain what I need...
