Default Tired Of Oil In Your Intake?

Like everyone, I had oil in my intake. There is a solution to keep it from entering. I went on Ebay and purchased an oil catch can.
Oil enters the intake through your PCV valve, being drawn in by vacuum. This oil acummulates and pools in the intake. The oil will make its way down into the intake ports, around the valves and will drip into the combustion chamber to be burnt, as it mixes with the fuel. Some of the tell tale signs you have this problem is an oil and carbon residue on the rear of the car, smoke during hard acceleration and the most obvious, oil on the back of the butterfly valve on the throttlebody. The catch can is put inline before the PCV valve to trap the oil before it reaches the PCV valve. Here is a link to the oil catch can I purchased. http://store.zerotek.net/unjdmalraoil.html

www.ipsmotorsports.net

It was about 60$ if I remember correctly. This solved my oil in the intake problems as well and alittle smoke on start up was fixed too.

That thing is huge and gawdy. Go to lowe's and for less than $25 you can put together a catch can setup that is small enough to be hidden (or leave it in plain sight, it does not draw attention).

NEED2SPEEDLS1 it is not just a C5 Z06 thing or even a C5 thing - almost every LS1 can benefit from this. My '00 would smoke bad on the dyno, it was consuming that small bit of oil that was being pulled through the intake. Not only that - but if you are consuming oil, you are leaning out the a/f ratio so you might not be able to run as much timing as you like. Put a catch can on and you'll find about a teaspoon of oil...

Do a search over at corvetteforum.com. You can use a air/oil separator, some fittings, and fuel line from the local parts house. It is a very simple system. The high prices are simply for a pretty catch can.

Funny that this was posted...after a few minutes of trying to set up my catch can on my own car. I have the TPiS unit. Pretty tight I guess(looks wise).

Highly recommend mod. I was trying to buy the AMW one but, it's backorder until november. Very nicely built pieces, we put one on a cadillac recently.

It's important to know how to have your PCV system hooked up properly...make sure you hook it up right.

My buddy uses this on his 99 C5 and it looks great. Has it mounted to top alt bolt with a mount he made. Just make sure it is low enough to clear hood.

Sorry guys, I just got back from vacation down in Orlando Fl. Like it down there for sure. Yeah, I'll try to take some pics. tomorrow. The catch can I bolted to the front of the passenger side cylinder head. I used the bracket that came with the can, but had to drill a larger bolt hole in the bracket to be able to mount it. I used the tube connection that runs to the inlet side of the PCV valve for the inlet to the can, and the outlet of the can went to the PCV valve inlet itself. The can sits inline, trapping oil on its way to the PCV valve. I also took the car down to my local Chevrolet dealer and showed the service manager and techs. the installation. They said they had some Vette customers complaining about this very issue regarding the oil in the intake.

Probably because your fuel filter is clogged and now nothing is getting into the intake.

I just installed one on my stroker. One thing I noticed was that the people I talked to suggested that the oil was drawn in more by the line that is in the valley in the front of the motor and not the line in the valve cover. I'm almost thinking of installing one in that line too. My motor sucks a ton of air and a ton of oil at WOT.
