I have seen and been in both but I have no real idea other than that. From no factual information I would say the C5. GM I am sure put more time into drag coefficient for the top speeds that the C5 can get compared to mazda.

http://www.darklair.com/cd.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_coefficient

interestingly enough, new Z06 has higher Cd compared to 4th gen camaros, probably due to fender and rear spoilers

they are all pretty close though.

0.29 Mazda RX-7 FC3S Aero Package 1986-91
0.29 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 2002
0.29 Chevrolet Corvette 2005
0.33 Mazda RX-7 FC3C, 1987-91
0.338 Chevrolet Camaro 1995
0.34 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 SS 2002
0.34 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 2006

some other interesting numbers:

0.27 - Toyota Camry Hybrid, 2007
over 0.5 - Dodge Viper

I’ve always heard that the “regular” C5 coupe is .01 lower because the rear hatch window is more aerodynamic that the C5 Z06 rear window/trunk.

C5 coupe = .28 Cd.

IMO the FD RX7 is a bit more aerdynamic but I want the numbers to prove to my friend its gonna be close to that of the C5 since the front end is almost the same.

underneath the chassis counts to guys! the air moving under the car becomes more important the faster you go,I would say the vette would be better at high speeds. Can anyone else shed some light on this?

I could not find any info to back that up. All I found was that they both have the same cd of .29. I used this web site as my resource http://www.internetautoguide.com/car...799/index.html

I just did a quick search. I see what you’re saying, most sources are listing .29. I researched this some time ago and found .29 listed for FRC and Z06, and .28 listed for the coupe. I’ll keep searching…….

I don't think that can be right...the C6 coupe has a lower cd than any C5 and even among C5s the hardtops/Z06s are less aerodynamic (higher cd) than the coupe versions.

Aerodynamics isn't just cD. Aerodynamic drag is cD multiplied by frontal area, and a C5 has much more frontal area than an FD RX-7, with very similar cD numbers.
