C6 or GT500???
Buy the Corvette, you will get more looks, more attention and you will love it. I have owned all kinds of muscle cars. The Corvette is the only one that envokes the reaction from non-car enthusiasts like it does.
Plus, you will have all kinds of great performance parts you can add, right now! GM is coming out with some new heads, intake and cam that is unreal and the price is very reasonable!!! I can't wait.
There will be thousands of opinioins on both sides, Ford vs, Chevy, but 9 out of 10 little kids will stop to look at the Corvette over the Mustang any day.
My first reaction to a car, that I can remember is a friend of my Father's putting me in his 62 Corvette to let me "act like I was driving". I was only 7 and it lit a bug in me like no other! It is the reason I love cars today.
Every time I get a chance, I offer to let a little kid sit in my Corvette. Usually the Fathers about puke, they think "oh my God man, do you want your car ruined". But, I tell them the story about me being little and getting to sit in that red and white 1962 Corvette and I will NEVER forget it. Heck, I can even still smell the guys Old Spice and smell of his cigars.
Buy the Corvette, unless you can afford to put the Mustang into storage and only drive it once or twice a month. That would be a pure investment. Heck I would do that, IF I COULD FIND ONE for sticker, or slightly under.
I love my Corvette, it is like no other car I have ever been in!
Tell that same hot chick that you just bought a new Corvette and she'll ask for a ride in it.
Corvette > Mustang
You can buy base model V6 Mustangs for $18K. That will tell you about the overall quality of the car. A Mustang that costs $50,000 is still just a Mustang. No exclusivity either, because you know they will sell the body kits and wheels for the Shelby, and every 16-yr old kid with a V6 or GT will have a car that looks exactly like your GT500, for about 1/3 the investment.
That's the real hold back from me getting a C6.

Even at $45K used, that would be a $900/mo payment for 60 mo.
As far as M6 vs. A6, I am now torn. I am getting spoiled by the A6. Sometimes I miss the M6, but most of the time I am glad I don't have to mess with the stick anymore. Maybe I'm just getting old.
$950 per month. ouch. The good part is that when you want to cash out you'll still have half of the price coming back into your pocket. Even at 6 years old with 80k miles you'll still get 23k minimum which will help with the next car.
