Default My clutch is this true

As you all know, my clutch is slipping...It's not slipping extremely bad, but it's pretty bad. Every time i get on it, the clutch smokes, but at around 5900rpms, the clutch just completely slips and the tach shoots up to around 6800rpms before hitting the limiter. Every day stop and go driving, the clutch is perfect; engages perfect and pedal pressure is perfect, but only when i get on the gas is when my clutch reveal its ghost. I have my new clutch sitting here in front of me, but i won't have time to get it put in until the end of this month. Will i be fine driving it normal until my new Ram HD and alum. fly is put it?

My buddy says that if i keep driving it, i will mess up the throwout bearing, input shaft and also i would mess up the torque tube....Is this true???

How about just driving it normally for the rest of the month? Don't beat on it.

You should replace the throwout bearing and pilot bearing while you are doing the clutch anyway. And if you have an older C5, strongly consider a new slave cylinder as well.

I agree with KELIENTE. After my cam swap in October 2005 I found that the factory clutch is very weak and at the track it does not hold at all under WOT. Anyway, I have been driving for almost a year waiting for the factory piece to go south and I am not worried about hurting anything. Honestly only thing that could be effected is the flywheel if the clutch liner gets too thin.

Keep beating on it. You should repace the slave, TO bearing and pilot bearing when you do the clutch anyway. I think it would be nearly impossible to damage the torque tube or input shaft.

you also might get an adjustable master cylinder from McLeod, along w/ the new pilot, throwout, and z06 slave.... its worth the extra few pennies not to have your new stuff break on you... and dont forget the drill mod...

deffinately do the slave. if you dont and you end up with hydraulic problems you have to drop the exhaust and the tunnel pan. slaves are not that expensive and can save you a huge headache later.

I drove mine until I could barely make it up a bridge due to the slipping. I replaced all my hydralics when I had the clutch swapped. Everything else is fine.
