I debating heavily on getting an 03 ZO6 or a new C6. Both would need LT headers, X pipe !cats! and the halltech stinger intake. I can do the tuning. Which would you guys go for? Im 26 and I want something that is quick, has a bit of a warranty, and gets good gas milage. Is the Z06 faster?? I think it has more awe appeal. and I wouldnt have to take a hit driving it off the showroom floor. What do you guys think?? I know Id have the removable top in the C6 and HID headlights. Any other things I should consider??

I didn't feel much exclusivity with the C5Z. The C5Z was clearly the better "racing" car. But if you are going to keep it on the street more then on the track... then its a no brainer to me. C6!!!

You really have to go with what you like the most, the awe will be there with the c6 just as much as the c5 zo6, maybe more? There is a certain sense of pride when you are driving away in your new vette, the hit you will take is going to go both ways new and used so dont let that eat at you to much. I love my c6 and glad that I waited to get the one I wanted make sure to get the Z51 pkg if you go the c6 route. Either way you will love it. Good luck.

i have found 12 '05 C6's for 35-38k with in 300 miles of where i live. my gf wants to trade her '02 SS for a C6. So they are already taking a hit, i wouldnt pay more than 40k for one.
i bought my '04 11/26/03 at 26 yrs old. so i know the feeling of driving out of the dealership in a brand new Vette. New or Used you will get a little high from owning one the day/night you pull out. Back then they took -7500 of MSRP, so i feel like i got a great deal for the car at the time. I should be driving it home tomorrow with a brand new fully built LS2 403 that will pull the new C6 Z06. i love my car and wouldnt trade it or get ride of it for a C6 or C6Z06, even though i would love to have one. The C6 gives you the new look, which is a sweet car that does turn heads for sure. I wish my car had the targa top, that would be nice to have. The C5 Z06 is still a one of a kind and people still turn heads to see it. i agree with what others are saying go with what you like looks wise, try to test drive both cars, the seats in the C6 are better IMO, they really grab you and fit like a taylor made suit in comparison to my seats. I think that is important because you will be spending all of your time in the seats. I have taken mine on road trips and its a very comfortable car to drive several hundred miles in a day. Pulled 27mpg with cruise control set at 80 mph.
either car can be made equally fast with the same mods. the extra cubes in the LS2 gives yeah a little more torque from what i can see when installing a cam or heads.
with the C6 you could have the LS2 pulled and have a 402-408-418-422 turned out of the stock motor pretty easily in the future, that would be a deciding factor for me if i were in your shoes right now. you could have the new look and power of the '06 Z06 out of an LS2.

I'd get the C6.
If you get 72 or even 84 month payments, the new C7 will be out by then and you can still sell your old C6 for 15-20k and put that down on your C7.
You can't do that same thing with a C5Z.... not anymore.
It's a big stretch to get the C6, but if you can swing it... you'll be glad 4 years from now that you got the newer one. That's my plan.

go with the c6. my bro just picked up a lemans blue c6 with 4k miles, navi, z51 suspension, etc... he picked it up for $38k. point is, there are nice low mileage c6's for a decent price.

go test drive both. They are different vehicles completely, by nature. The C6 has better seats and is more comfortable, mid-12 car stock. The Z is louder, rides a little rougher, but is bottom 12s stock with an average driver. Either have similar potential.
The C6 is a better car overall though, inside/out. GM made quite a few improvements with the C6, in terms of quality and feel.

if wasnt in the middle of a LS2 403 build for the last 10 months i would have traded off my Z06 for the C6 last year, kind of wish i did, instead of putting a P1 blower on it, 2k miles later it blew up due to a bad MAF tune.

Having owned both, I am enjoying the C6 more so than I did the Z06. Mine is still bone stock down to the air filter but gives me plenty of everyday driving performance and comfortable luxuries. The Z06 had more "fun" factor, but the C6 definitely has more pleasure factor. I am still dreaming about forced induction.
