Would you guys laugh or call rice if I put on the stick-on vents instead of cutting the body to put real ones in?

i sadly have the stick on's... don't do it... my car came with them and they are only on so i dont' have to see whats under em'. I'm getting new sideskirts with built in vents.. thats when they will come off..

Honestly they look fairly legit.. only a real vette owner and maybe only a z06 owner would be able to look at them and tell they aren't real.. but meh...

again....HELL NO! The carfax on this one was clean as a whistle. Won't be long now!!

My goal is 400rwhp reliably and with as close to stock gas mileage as possible. I'm thinking longtubes, x pipe, medium cam (G5x3?), intake and catback should get me there any suggestions for this setup within a reasonable budget?

with 18xx posts i assume u know a little bit about lsx motors and since u have a camaro. its just a vette man, pretty much same engine as your camaro. its all the same really. if your camaro didnt need a tune after headers, why would the vette, etc etc.

As said above get somebody to look at it locally or airfare is cheap get on a plane check it out and drive it home. It's cheaper than shipping it and more fun. I drove mine home from Virginia to Chicago.

ALso get the VIN and post it on CF a couple of guys will give you a car history with Chevy.

Oh I know, I've just never looked into the possibility of building a car to achieve a certain number. No experience with cams either.

Hey man, now you have to stop me if you see me cruising around Plano so I can see the Vette. As for a good cam with your goals in mine, my tech just dropped in a small cam (basically what I run) into an 02 C5 coupe (224/230 .588) with a tune and supporting mods (lts, cai, exhaust, heads) made 430 I think (6 spd). No kick in the nuts mileage drop and great reliability/drivability. Without the heads you should be right on 400 without a monster cam.

Thanks man, you still come out to the ricekiller meets? I'm there every monday night. That sucks about the LT1 Trans Am on pinks. Where do you suggest a tune from? Say I do a cam and tune and decide on heads later, will a shop charge again? You'll have to share some vette knowledge when I get mine in 2 weeks.

No problem bro. I drove through the gtg last night at 8:45 on my way to the gym to see if anybody I knew was there...didn't see anybody, so just drove on. Some shops will charge you again for retuning, some will just charge dyno time. I think 21st Century will give you a lifetime tune for $399 or $499 (I forget), no matter what mods you add, they will retune later. I think LG has some additional charge each tune (but it's not bad)...but don't quote me on that one.

I'll PM you and we can hook up when you get the Vette and I'll give you the scoop on Vette techs!

First of all congrats on the purchase, I know you've been trying to get in a Vette for a LONG time now. It's awesome, huh? Don't kid yourself though by thinking it will be everything the Z06 is unless you're going to replace the transmission with the M12, get a stronger drive shaft, install 2nd generation active handling, upgrade your pistons, and get the LS6 block (which has cast-in "windows" that allow better bay-to-bay breathing).

Couldn't justify the $7000+ price difference I only plan on 400+ rwhp dont need stronger trans or shaft now. LS6 block is kind of meaningless as well, fbodys have them stock lol.

I know that, but you said it will be everything the Z06 is, and that's not exactly correct unless you plan to swap all that stuff.

Congrats on the purchase, I love my FRC. I run MTI's X1 cam and AFR heads with full bolt ons and make around 455rwhp
