There is a good book showing the removal, it's even got a GM part number now.

After doing this over the weekend with V-series Tech, I must say you've got a hell of a job ahead of you!
Take your time and try not to get too pissed off....it will all work out.
(see thread 'almost there')
If you PM him, he may be able to email you the GM service procedures.

Wow, it's not removing the engine from the car, it's removing the car from the engine. Check out January's edition of Corvette Fever how to effectively remove the LS1 from the C5 ( www.corvettefever.com ). It's looks to be an interesting project, I would'nt mind helping. Have fun! Tim

Some guys pull in out from the top. If you remove the torque tube, I think you have to drop the front saddle about 1/2" to get it out with the intake off. Do a search here and on CF for "removing engine from top". I could do it from the top, but don't have the tools for the entire drive train removal, you need a lift.

Dropping it out through the bottom certainly makes it a lot easier for us. Bob

Wish I could have pulled mine from the bottom. If you remove everything up front of the motor, and drop the front cradle and inch, after removing the hood. The motor will come out the top, at least mine did that way.

I agree. Unbolt the torque tube, lower the front cradle about 4in's and pull it out the top. Here's where I just did mine..But I did remove the rear end so I could do some upgrades on it..

Just pulled mine out of the top. Left the drivetrain in and dropped the craddle. Here are several simplified pictures.

Link Here

I used some of CajunDudes techniaues plus some of my own.
