Default Preventing a stolen vette.

What do you guys use? OEM or some other device?
What would be the best to steal-proof a vette?

aftermarket system with enough hook ups to run a couple extra very loud peizos. maybe one under the hood and one under the dash. basically places a thief would need to be to steal your car. battery backup also.

thats just a few ideas to get your thinking started

Kill switch will help too, but as the old saying goes "if they want your car bad enough they'll get it"

I use the stock alarm. If I add anything else it will be Lojack.

Lojack isn't a theft prevention device. It's not activated until you report your stolen car to the police. It's a very effective theft recovery system and they usually get the thief as well if it's reported soon enough.

Actually, Lojack has a newer, updated system that is a theft prevention, as it will call you and turn off the vehicle if it is moved without their fob-like unit within a few yards of the vehicle when it's being started. I'm not sure of all of the capabilities, but it has definitely been improved since their original system. Something to check out.

I guessed I used the term wrong there. It will not stop it from getting stolen, but when it does get stolen it is your best chance to get the car back. I know if someone wants something they will take it. Regardless of what you have on there to stop them, and with the recent thefts that appear to be tow truck related they will deal with security devices at their own will.

You can drag anything up on a flatbed if you want it badly enough.

Unfortunately...you're exactly right. If they want it bad enough, they'll get it. I freakin' hate thieves!

Thanks for the feedback, after some research I think the best one can do is some sort of home-made cut off switch, cheap and effective unless they are using a flatbed, for that and before loading I would use a bazooka.

I had a fuel pump cut off switch put in an old hotrod truck i had (84 chevy shortwide with a 454 heads/cam/carb) truck, i got in a wreck and they impounded it. Before they put it on the wrecker, i turned the fuel pump switch off. The next day i got a call from the Impound saying that the truck was stolen about 3 years before I bought it and the original owner was on his way to come get it, but they told him the motor didn't run.

Long story short, i bought my truck back for $1000 bucks and DROVE it on the trailer. The guy that i paid $1000 to was PISSED!

But like everyone else says... if they want it bad enough... they'll take it.
