Bench racing question

Bench racing question I apologies if this is not allowed here, and please move to the appropriate place.
There's a guy here at work with a stock 2001 ford lighting...or so he says. He tells me the other day that he smoked this C5 Corvette about 4-5 car lengths. He said they started from about a 40mph roll and he let out about 120. Now every time he sees me he wants to run my vette.
I have a 98 corvette A4, 2.73, with a Vararam, and magnaflow catback. I'm not much for bench racing, but who do you think will win? I'm going to run him, but just curious what you guy's think.

Well I have owned 3 Lightnings and they suck from a roll, My Lightning which was running 12.3 at 109 at the time could not hang with my old 98 M6 that I had from a roll. It was bone stock at the time. I would take it with my buddy driving my Lightning by about 2 ro 3 cars. It really all depends on what he has done to it. He probably is full of it. A 40 roll is the best speed for a lightning from a roll. I would say you should have no problem. Make sure you take off in the right gear to get that jump on him. They are real torquey and get a good jump.

Thanks for the input guys. He took me for a ride in it yesterday, and I wasn't that impressed. Although the sound of the supercharger spinning up was a little intimidating. I'll post the out come as soon as we can get something together.

So I drive the car in today (It's usually put up for the winter) and ask about running the lightning. His response was that he was to busy today. I said okay...what about during lunch? Again...he had stuff to do.....why does this not surprise me!! I told him that I call BS on his run with the other C5. His response was "it happened", and you'll get your chance. I said sure man....anytime. He knows I don't drive the car much during the cold months!

Your 2.73 gear will let him get out in front off the line if he has traction, but you will run him down and pull a couple cars once your a4 hits 3rd. JMO
Are you going from a roll or a dig? If you are rolling from what speed??

I assume we'll do both. As far as a roll, I'm pretty sure he'll want to go from a 40 roll seeing how he says he beat the other vette from that speed. I'll just keep it in 3rd, turn of the TC, and hope for the best.
