Default problem on a 97 C5, top speed only 80 mph.

my friend has a 97 c5 vette and when he's driving he gets a message on the cluster something to do with the suspension and it locks the top speed to 80 mph. if any body has had this problem please let me know how we can get rid of this if we can by pass it or what.

thanks

OK then it could be the steering position sensor or the electronic brake control module(EBCM)

It could very well be a bad or corroded ground, there are 14 grounds on a C5 they should be inspected and cleaned.

Another possibility could be a battery that is on it's way out, when a battery in a C5 is going bad it could set false trouble codes.

Canadian car?

Did he recently remove the tire pressure monitors or have an issue with the system now?

Thats more than likely the issue at hand

New here, but if his shocks have been changed out or he has a bad shock it will send the code and limit top speed. You know the littel O2 plugs that tell your car you still have the o2 sensors? Well they make the same for the shocks. There are 8 sensors(2 for each wheel) and they sell the 8 "caps" that will tell your car that it is working proporlyeven if you have aftermarket shocks. I know the sight that sells them, but i dont know if they are a sponsor or not, so can i mention there name here?
