Default door moldings

I was curious if anyone has a way of removing the door moldings on a vette without messing up the door or the paint?

I did this about 3 months ago. It was a bitch but very possible. If you have a buddy helping have them put a blow dryer next to where you are working. Use some fishing string (I tried with floss first and it kept breaking) with the fishing line I also recommend some nice thick gloves. Just start at one end and pull behind the SBM moving the line up and down. It also helps if you hit it with some wd40. After it is all off you will see a ton of double sided tape. I used my fingers to ball it up and pick it off the car. It chewed up my hands but worked perfectly. Afterwards a nice bath to get all the chemicals off and a solid wax. Looks perfect.

Good advice above. It is also possible to get it started in such a way that the double faced tape does not separate, but stays completely intact on the molding. If you have the patience, that is the best way to go. I was able to do that on a couple of cars, but more often than not, it separates.

One thing to keep in mind if your car is a dark color and/or has seen a lot of sun: The paint may be faded around the molding. If this is the case, you'll be left with a "ghost" molding when you're finished. Not pretty.

Very true. I was so excited that I did my Altima and bro's Z28. On my Sheer silver 2005 Altima they all came off with ease and in one piece. On my Mill. Yellow 2000 Vette there was a slight shadow that faded in the sun after about 1 month no big deal. On my bros 2001 gold/tan camero we removed all his emblems and it was fine?
