Default Those with Texas speed and performance headers

Ok... so question... After installing my headers my O2's touched them and shorted out.. It's been this way for awhile and i'm tired of that darn check engine light. So i have 2 new o2's ready to go in.. I should have asked this question 6 months ago but it didn't bother me at the time...

There are little tabs on the headers that bolt up to the fram of the car right behind the oil pan. Mine dont' even come close to touching (being able to bolt up)... are there different versions of headers based off year? did i get a bad set? or is this pretty normal????

Also one of my 02's rub against my tunnel plate is this bad???? when i say rub i mean slightly pressed against.

My heads on my 2003 Z06 are the same as yours. I had to cut holes in the tunnel plate for the 02's to fit into. My tabs are also not anywhere near were they should be. Even if you flip the bracket in any direction.

hey guys i have a 2002 zo6 i had same issue you just have to bend the drive shaft tunnle up i you havent cut the holes already. And the brackets on the headers are not supposed to line up texas speed sells a bracket that will alow you to bolt them up but there is no need to. i love my headers you just have to work with them a little

mine dont match up either, but its no big deal. I also had to use a dremel to cut a small hole on one side for the 02 sensor clearance. But I love my headers.

I talked with Trevor at TSP. Those tabs on the headers are not supposed to bolt up to the stock bracket. There was a brace that used to be used but it is no longer needed. Just disregard those tabs. As far as the 02 senors go you can cut two holes in the cover above or you can do what I did and simply move the 02 senors to the beginning of the xpipe. I angled them just like they were on the stock hpipe.

So what "catbacks" are you guys running with your headers? I am running borla stingers after my xpipe. I love it!

well the headers are on and the job is done!

i did the install by myself in about 12hrs.
i also did new plugs and removed the a.i.r system.
installed from the top on jack stands.
although im sure they are much easier to install
from the bottom!

these headers are a PAIN in the *** to install.... sorry to say that but they are., if anyone needs details of the install feel free to PM me. i think the quality was good but my main problem is the header final fitment on the drivers side.
im hitting a little on the bell housing and the steering linkage.
the pass. side fits great! and the x-pipe bolted on EASY and everything lined up PERFECT.

quality- 10
price - 10
fitment- 7
ease of install- 6

overall score for the kit is an 8.

i just got done doing a shake down run and they sound GREAT! i can also feal a nice gain the butt dyno.... ill post up REAL numbers when i get them. but id say at least 25rwhp after tuning.

oh and the weight diff. is...........................................

stock set-up was around 70lbs.
TSP kit was around 50lbs.
and the a.i.r. system in total was 7 pounds.

so 27 less pounds and 20+ more HP sounds like a hell of a deal for $750.00

here's a pic of mine on from the install...they don't line up so it's going to be a pain to align your exhaust tips...i have given up getting mine straight.

I didn't get the x-pipe at the time so i just had the reduction pipes into the stock H-pipe

Chalk it up to the extremely poor fitment of the headers. Why would you put tabs on them if they weren't supposed to bolt up to anything? Mine were not level either which made getting the exhaust tips level a pain in the ***. They could have at least mentioned when you buy them that you will have to cut a hole in your tunnel plate for the o2 sensor wires to "keep them away from the heat".

I have brought all of these issues up many times but no one seems to listen or care and TSP plays dumb saying they never had any of those problems with the headers they have done in house. Maybe the rest of us just got bad sets.

Next time I'm going to suck it up and get the LG's. The statement "You get what you pay for" really comes into play here.

Default Kooks

Well, i bought Kooks headers and catted x-pipe. As you might exspect they fir great The only issue i had is thst the plug for the O2 sensor would lay right across one of the primaries. I took a zip tie and tied it up where it is kinka suspened inbetween and it seems to be working great. But i still have an engine light! Changed the plugs and wires, and reset and it was good for couple days, but now its back. I think im just gona go get it tuned and be done with it.
