It's not uncommon for an F-body to dyno higher. Driveline differences, etc.

No problemo!

Corvettes are usually faster than the F-Body cars because they are much lighter... Of course then there are the Vettes with the LS2, LS6, or LS7...

ok thank you. Yeah i knew the vette was faster because they weigh less. Did the vettes have anything different in the engine than an f-body.?? or were they pretty much the exact same thing.

On a dyno of a vette versus camaro both with LS1's and auto's the camaro will dyno higher due the vettes tranny being in the rear of the car. Every sheet I saw of a stock versus stock put the vette about 10hp down the F-body.

The actual motor is exactly the same, vette uses different air intake system (not actual intake, both use the LS6 intake) and has different exhaust manifolds. The vette also has a more direct exhaust system that is less restrictive than the F-bodies.

I dont' see how having the trasmission in the rear would yeild a lower hp out put...

however the reasoning has already been posted... The LS1 in the vette is the same LS1 in the F-body except oil pan... The vette is equipped with a power robbing IRS where as the F-body gets the live axle.... aka drivetrain loss...

id also guess with the larger rear wheels found on the vette compared to the f-body also adds a few extra pounds in the DT that need to be turned.

I've seen where an extra 11lbs in wheel/tire combo = 11rwhp loss on a dyno jet on an 00 camaro.

The above example is not to be confused that 1lb in wheel weight = 1rwhp loss. just what happened.

Magic that was my point, the vettes drivetrain causes alot more driveline loss than the F-body. I remember seeing a article back in the day about how the extra parts that GM used to hook the torque tube to the motor and the tranny being on the rear end being the main reason for the high drivetrain losses.

Actually my bone stock 02 T/A dyno numbers were 292 rwhp with 276 rwtq and my bone stock 02 C5 Coupe dyno numbers were 302 rwhp with 323 rwtq both were done on a dynojet using SAE correction. It is kind of strange that the vette put out more rwtq than rwhp. But I did see more hp in the vette and there is also no comparison in running it on the streets. The vette hooks so much better than the T/A.

Both use ls6 intakes on 01'+ lower years use the ls1 intake. I think the specs on the cam are marginally different- correct me if I'm wrong. The f-body weighs a couple hundred lbs more and the vette has superior airos. The vette should put down a little less considering the I.R.S.
