The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
The actual motor is exactly the same, vette uses different air intake system (not actual intake, both use the LS6 intake) and has different exhaust manifolds. The vette also has a more direct exhaust system that is less restrictive than the F-bodies.
however the reasoning has already been posted... The LS1 in the vette is the same LS1 in the F-body except oil pan... The vette is equipped with a power robbing IRS where as the F-body gets the live axle.... aka drivetrain loss...
id also guess with the larger rear wheels found on the vette compared to the f-body also adds a few extra pounds in the DT that need to be turned.
I've seen where an extra 11lbs in wheel/tire combo = 11rwhp loss on a dyno jet on an 00 camaro.
The above example is not to be confused that 1lb in wheel weight = 1rwhp loss. just what happened.
