Okay guys I have a modded 99Z28 with the standard LS1. I just recently got offered to buy a 01 ZO6 motor from a guy that is putting in a stroked 427. Here are some of my current engine mods in my car:

SLP - High flow intake lid, RKSport - Aluminum ported MAF ends, HyperTech - 160 low-temp thermostat, GM Parts - LS6 intake, GM Parts - 28.8lb injectors from an 02' ZO6, MODIFIED - Fernco smooth bellow - FRA - !EGR - !AIR - !CAGS - Master cylinder drill mod, MSD - 8.5mm Super conductor spark plug wire set, NGK - TR55 spark plugs, TEA - Stage II 5.3L ported and polished heads, SLP - Manual hi/low fan control switch, Thunder Racing - Stock length chromoly pushrods, Thunder Racing - Custom Grind TR232/237 .594/.604 112 lsa, March Performance - Harmonic dampener crank pulley with belts, LS1PowerTuning - Street performance tune... I am currently putting out close to 412rwhp and 360 rwtq.

My question is, if I swap motors and put the heads, cam, etc... on the LS6 would it benefit and gain or am I wasting my time? Will everything bolt right up? I heard the Vette motors fit alittle snug. Some input would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, how much does stock ZO6 heads flow vs my TEAs?

Thanks in advance.

The 01's had oil consumption problems. Waste of time & money. That's just my take. BTW your heads probably put up better #'s.

Not all 01's had the problem. Some did some did not and then some were reringed to eliminate the problem. Do your research on the motor if the price is right it will we worth it.

Thanks for the info so far. I'm still kinda in the air about buying this motor. I have lots of mods in my current LS1 and wonder if I would gain much if anything to spend the money and time swaping the LS1. Keep em coming though. Thanks!!!

Once you put all of your parts on the LS6 you lose the benefit of the LS6. The LS1 block is feasibly stronger because of the lack of bays, and your motor with heads and cam already should put out more power than the LS6.

Big waste of money, since you are better off with what you already have; unless you have another project you can drop the LS6 in...

Default Nothing gained

The flow numbers for your heads , should answer your question.
very little to be gained ,unless your engine is getting tired.
