From GTP to Vette
I was debating for a while on whether or not to turbo my high 13s GTP (and drop potentially 10k on the car on turbo and tranny) to get mid/low 12's here in Texas, but after watching a friend of mine with his bolt-ons LT/LSX/S90'd camaro bust 12.7's on street tires with a 2.0 60' (it's cammed now, btw, so probably low 12's now), right off the highway to the staging lanes, and hot lapped, with the same or less money into his car than me, I decided it was time for a platform change.
So I've upgraded to a white 2001 Corvette C5 A4 w/ HUD and 32k on the clock for a fairly decent price. I'm not sure what gear I have or how to tell (2.73 vs 3.15 I believe?). These things run mid/high 13's stock right?
Also is there anything I should know about these cars (notorious failures, quirks, TSB's/recall's). Already noticed the body flex from the test drive (targa top).

BTW, to all the T/A WS6 owners out there, you guys have f'cking beautiful cars. It was a tough choice not to buy a T/A (but the Vette is a notorious p****-getter, I've been told
).BTW, the Vette rides nicer than I thought it would (and has plenty of leg room--and I'm 6'1/6'2).

Not that my GTP was any better (had a demod sale up on the gtp forums, and someone made me an offer on my lift kit--true story
).Meant to say S3--Shaner 3--or whatever that thing is.

In stock trim they are good for mid to low 13s, in cool weather that is. It doesn't take much to get them into the 12s, mine has run a best of 12.81 at 109.4 with just a Vararam intake and dyno tuning. Mine has 3.15 gears in it (which is worth about two tenths compared to the 2.73s)
I've also owned a GTP in the past as was very impressed with how easy it was to get it into the 13s. Mine ran a best of 13.78 at 100mph (on all season radials) with just a 3.4 pulley and a 9" K&N cone filter.
